Duralast batteries, thoughts/opinions?

My battery is on its last leg, and I'm not sure if my brother replaced the battery since it still appears to be the original nissan battery, but I've been hearing on the radio about how good duralast products are. I don't have a high-powered stereo in my Max. Has anyone put the duralast battery in thier max? If so, are you happy w/ it?

Get an Optima. One of my friends has had his yellow top for 7 years and its still going strong. Well worth the money.

I just got a cheapo duralast battery this week, it replaced my old battery, that could barely hold a charge. it had 2 volts.. The new one was good, it started my car up, and worked fine. No issues as of yet. I bought it for 50 bucks.

well, I decided to go w/ the Duralast Gold. Karim, as good as the Optima batteries are, I'm planning to sell my Max when it reaches 150K so I didn't want to shell out the xtra $$ for it. When the guy at Autozone pulled out the orig. battery, I couldn't believe how bad the condition looked of it. Also the tie-downs broke due to rust so he didn't charge me for the tie-downs.

i've heard good things about optimas as well. i've been researching the topic as well, as my battery is on its way out. i'm planning on puchasing an optima. i'm not running a huge audio system so i don't need a deep cycle battery like the yellow top. any suggestions on red or yellow??

I have a red-top duralast...its autozone's middle-of-the-line duralast battery...I'm pushing 3 MTX 10s...my lights kind of dim out when the bass hits but I think I just need to get a compacitor

A "compacitor" or capacitor like its really named, won't do anything but mask the problem. It's useless.

I thought it regulated power so it equalled out the output of the battery...but does this mean I need an optima to fix the problem or it alternator...

Actually, I dont really care because I rarely turn my subs up loud enough to have my lights get noticably dimmed.

I have a capacitor and my lights still dim when it hits hard. But she still starts right up strong each and every morning on my duralast. I will get an optima when its time for a new one though.

Yea I tried putting one of these monkies in my aunts car and turned out to be more dead then her current dead battery. It was only giving out 5 volts I guess they don't keep their batteries charged We sent it back and went to pepboys and got an energizer.

A compacitor, capacitor, or optima will not rid of your dimming experiences. If you really want to get rid of your dimming you will have to upgrade your alternator and battery wires.

They sell about 100 million batteries a year at wal-mart, theres bound to be some bad ones. You could have just got it replaced for free.

If your going to get a cheaper battery than optima just make sure it is a lifetime so you don't have to worry about it.

Capacitor clear up

Capacitors are super high speed batteries. They are needed because stereos need a lot of instant power when they hit hard, but alternators and batteries are not designed to provide this kind of instant current.

If properly sized, capacitors will maintain the car voltage at its nominal (normal) value on its output that goes to the stereo. But the output to the car electrical system, which is connected to the input of the capacitor, will be drug down below nominal voltage as the capacitor is trying to recharge the current it is releasing at the same time.

Capacitors are valuable for stereos and amps because as their input voltage is drug down, the amperage they require to keep operating goes way up. This causes a lot of stress and heat on components. And it can cause a shutdown and reset on some of the microprocessors used in modern stereo equipment. Sometimes these occur so quickly it sounds like a click in the music (like a skipping CD.)
