muffler replacement

need to replace the muffler on my 96. Is there any way to gain a few horses by changing the muffler alone? (rest of exhaust is oem)
muffler suggestions?

If you change the muffler alone, you will barely get around 1 hp. But it is cheaper going with an aftermarket unit vs. the OEM one.

I think the dealer wanted close to (if not) $750 for part and installation of an OEM muffler for me. FYI

get some after market exhuast system, if you want some sound. rather replace the whole system at once cause usually your muffler goes the rest is about to go too.

99grnmaxgxe is right on as usual. Obviously an aftermarket rear section will look good but not a HUGE HP gain. If your lookin for looks than just go on ebay and find one for cheep i found on on there 3 years ago for $40.00 but then also did a Stillen Y-pipe which is the biggest HP gain you can make on exhaust other than a catback to replace the crimp in our exhaust. A lot of options to choose look hard and do it all at once if you can you won't regret it.
