Lately, I have noticed that my maxima is making a lot of click clack ticking noise that comes from contraction/expansion of engine parts and exhaust, when the car is parked and the engine turned off and is let cool down. I have heard that noise in some new brand nissans. I am wondering how bad is that noise on other peoples maxima. My coolant temp neeedle stays in the middle, so the engine is running optimum, but I am wondering if there is something that could make the exhaust hotter than usual, thus making that noise louder. Anyone experience that or is it just me

 

If it happens on new Nissans what's to worry about?

It is perfectly normal, I like the sound after returning from a nice drive.

 

Yeah that sound is quite annoying. Mine does it too, real fast click click click after the engine heats up.
