How much for a good suspension setup??

At first it will seem unreasonable, but the ride is not bad at all when properly adjusted.

Spring and strut setups are alright for a mild street setup but the springrates and aggressive dampening of true coilovers (a past set of D2 Racing Sport for me) cannot be matched and you wont beleive the potential of the A32.
For me, the constant maint. and trouble shooting (noise only) were the downsides of having the D2 coilovers. Coming up on the winter time and a heavy school/work load I did not want to spend time troubleshooting suspension problems.
If I had a full stock suspension laying around (I sold my GR-2 struts and was only left with SE springs) it may have been a different story. I more than likely would have just pulled the D2s for the winter and taken my time to fully service them.
I ended up trading the set of D2s for Tein S-Tech paired with AGX + a full stock suspension. From a pure money standpoint I would seem on the bottom but I have not regretted it in the slightest. I have played with the AGX's a bit and gotten the handling (not a strongpoint in the S-Tech) a bit sharper by also swapping bushings all around.
This will not be my last setup but I am happy with it for street driving. When the time comes I will more than likely go with a newer (mine were from the original batch) set of D2's as I am still keeping an eye on how the K-Sports have been holding up for people on the board.

how harsh is the ride? am i going to be rattling fillings or just feel all the bumps?
can you give more feedback to the comfort and performance of your spring/strut vs coilover experience please.

the idea is if i can have people ride in the car and have it feel sporty and like its a performance car vs a harsh unpleasant ride will be (somewhat) key to my choice.
ive ridden in a friends benz sl500, g35 sedan, and e320 before. the benz had a very hard setup, you felt big bumps, smaller ones melted away though.(the MB cars are early 90s, the g35 is an 04)

Your gonna feel about every little imperfection in the road.
How do you guys tell when your rear end is gonna come out with the RSB on? I havent had it happen yet but I wanna kind of expect it if it does happen.

thats the problem, it gives pretty much no warning before it breaks loose. without the rsb youll get alot of warning(tire squeel, ect)

going from 225/50/16 to 235/40/18 makes a huge difference in response and gets rid of that wallow feeling on the highway. the ride is only marginally worse, nothing to complain about.
stock SE springs are about 2.1f/3.6r kg/mm
eibach springs are about 3-5/3-6 (stiffest drop spring)
compare those with tein 7/6, Boss Chen 7/8, JIC 9/6, D2 9/7, Ksport 9/6 (all rates can be changed)

i think i got the spring rates correct, but i could have had them mixed up.
the gle.gxe share the same front springs as an se. the rear springs on the se are slightly stiffer, along with stiffer valved struts. also the se has some poly bushings in the front suspension. thats it.
195/65/15 is not stock, stock is 205/65/15 on the gxe. you will feel a huge difference in ride, traction, handling with going up to the 17.
ksport and d2 are basically the same, so pick your color.
any drop spring limits wheel travel, so if all you care about is looks, then get something lower than 1.5". but if you want to handle then stick with a mild drop and a stiffer spring. better yet shorten some koni inserts and run rear mounts to help add some suspension travel.
