I own a 96 GLE. The antenna like to stay up about 4 inches. I have cleaned the antenna and sprayed it with WD-40. This solution lasts until there is a light rain and then it's back to square one.

I've seen a number of Maximas with the same body style with the same problem.

Any better solutions? It's real irritating.

Your best bet is to try a heavier lubricant. An all-purpose white lithium grease should last quite a bit longer than WD-40 which washes off rather easily. Also check to make sure that the mast itself is not bent, possibly adding to the work the motor needs to do.

Best of luck,
Jeff

You are going tohave to clean it with more WD-40. I had the same problem and I had to clean the hell out of the thing. Have someone help you by turning the stereo on andoff when you need. 10 sprays and wipoffs did the trick.
This should be added as one of the maintenance items in the manual.
