I am gunna get a deal from a friend of mine who runs www.turboimports.com for an RT cat for $189. I want to know if you guys think its worth it.

I have a Cattman S/S Y Pipe, and Greddy Catback, with a K&N feeding the engine the air. Is the cat worth it? If so I am gunna buy it.

BTW does anyone know of a place/person I can get a used NOS kit from?

I've heard the cat makes minimal, unnoticeable gains. However, I've heard that on car's that run the greddy that it takes out the 2k-3k RPM drone. Personally, to me it's worth $200 to kill the drone on the Greddy. Thus, I'll probably pick one up. However, I wouldn't count on more than 1-2 HP.

Also, www.lightningmotorsports.com sells it for 179 I think.

Good luck!

http://www.lightningmotorsports.com/...technology.htm

Actually it's 188 for the 97+ (price rose)

It's 200 for the 95-96

Good luck, sorry if I got your hopes up

Brian,

The RT cat is on my car, didnt you notice the GReddy droning? I cant personally tell, because the RT was on the car b4 the GReddy was on.

Also, JGadladge's (sorry i know i got one or two wrong letters ) homepage has some dyno info regarding it, i havent looked in a while, but I think he got some gains from the RT cat.

You can also get it for $100 used.. i got mine from the previous owner of your car.

I think he got like 6hp/10ft-lb's from the RT cat. I've had one for a while and I did notice a difference. Maybe not 10ft-lb's, but it does add a little.

I ordered it

I went ahead and ordered it from a buddy of mine who runs www.turboimports.com. He said he can order just about anything and give me a good price on it.

What do you think. V1 SQ? LOL. I got it for 185. (RT CAT)
The drone is pretty loud in O/D at cruising speeds, so if that takes it away, it was worth it. I also think that the factory cat is a bottleneck for the exhaust. I am sure I will pickup an HP gain, but nothing really noticeable. If I didn't have the Y Pipe, I would pick up a good gain according to RT.

I am sure I will be happy with it. I will let you know how it goes.

When I had my universal Focuz exhaust along with the WSP y-pipe, there was a very annoying drone, especially in the lower rpms. Now that I have the Apexi WS exhaust, there's no drone. I love it! The only thing I have to take care of is the bees in the can. WSP sent me some header wrap, so I can take care of that soon. From what I heard, it's not worth getting the RT cat. I just leave the cat stock, I thought about punching out the cat, but decided not to.

Well

I ordered it. I will see how it sounds, and if I get any noticeable difference. If I am not pleased at all with it, it goes up for grabs.

The reason for getting the RT cat lean more towards improved emissions than improved performance. I'm convinced that it got me through the fairly tough NJ state inspection. It also reduced the drone my ehaust made around 2500rpms. Both of these things made it well worth the money.

As far a performance increase; If it does, it was not that noticeable on my car.

Yup! The emmission levels AFTER I put in the RT cat was much, much lower. But this was on a VE max w/ 100k on it.

i put 2 RT cats on 2 Maxima's with Greddy and the drone was noticeably decreased. I also put one on an 89 Supra and HC's are at 400+ now vs 100- before the RT Cat.
