intake leak?

I did a search and didnt find anything. I was looking at an SE-limited 98 everything looked good, interior and exterior were nice but the engine bay was dirty although it ran great. There was some black grease all along the front of the intake manifold where it meets with the gasket, seems like it could've been a leak. All other parts of the engine bay were also dirty. Is this something i should be concerned about?

If it was in-fact an SE-L, it would be a 1999.

Damn near every Max and I30 I've seen has had this residue at some point. You can change the gasket between the upper and lower intake plennum in under an hour. Although it doesnt necessarily mean it has an intake leak.

Intake leak

Most Intake leaks have a noticeable ticking sound consistant with the throttle.

The residue was mostly in the areas i marked and the rest of the manifold was ok. I guess i shouldnt worry about it then.
