Wow......a low mileage tranny with quaife!!!! I guess you are not allowed to say how much you paid for it?

I need one too to have one standing by just in case my tranny decides to go bye bye. At over 150k miles, I can tell that it won't be long. Hope it doesn't go too soon, before I find one.

I would not put that shockproof in there. That stuff gums up synchros, hubs, sleeves, and shafts like nobody's business. Redline does not recommend it for synchromesh transmissions and after taking apart a bunch of transmissions running that crap at the shop, I now know why. The parraffin emulsion centrifuges out when the trans parts spin, resulting in a peanut butter-like substance gumming up the inside edges of all the rotating parts of the transmission.

I would definately not put that stuff in your trans, especially with that nice quaife in there.

I was still deciding over the shockproof, the peanut butter seems to be true and also I30tMike also said the same. I might just do MT-90 with maybe 1.5qts of shockproof, a lot DSM guys seem to do that and everything is okay.

I agree. It's loaded with EP additives much more than a normal GL-5, and it's far more aggressive on the synchros. It's really designed for dogmissions.

Im going to pick up some MT-90 at the local shop after im done my finals. I did a good amount of searching and a large amount of people have been okay running shockproof on synchroed trannies so I decided to go with it. Im just going to play it safe. Any thoughts on mixing a qt. or so of Shockproof in?

AFAIK, Redline's formulations are highly solvent, so a ~4-to-1 mix of shockproof in MT-90 would be pretty good (or at least a damn sight better than pure shockproof). You'd be fine for daily driving with some 1/4 mile passes here and there.

Of course, if you were road racing or something, spending a lot of time at high speeds, it'd be a different story.

It might be OK to put just some shockproof in there, I know som DSM owners do it. Some shops do recommend it, some shops don't. Mine recommends against it.

I ended up mixing about 1.5qts in. A lot of the Sentra have been running 50-50 mix for long periods of time without problems so it should be okay.
