Air Intake Question
Air Intake Question
I Think The One I Am Going To Go With Is The "ram Air". If I Am Correct, This Is The Short Connection. The Question I Have Is About The Air Flow Sensor. I Have Seen The Ram Air Intakes On Ebay And Other Sites For Like 20-80 Bucks, But Then I Have Seen Some That Include The Air Flow Sensor For Like 80-100$ More! Is It Worth It To Get One That Icludes The Air Flow Sensor, Or Can I Jus Use The Stock One?
Also, If U Have Any Links, Or Suggestions On Which Inatke I Should Get, Please Fell Free To Posts, Thanks In Advance!

If you do decide that you are going to get the short ram, get it from Ebay, they all work the same and it's much cheaper. But you should know that replacing your stock midpipe will mean lost in torque.
first of all, dont type like a retard. i have a weapon r short ram intake, and i love it ive noticed a high end increase in power, but loss in low end. what i love is the sound. growls at ya. get one off ebay, and replace the cheap crap airfilter with a k+n or a weapon r or a apexi or whatever you want brand of filter.
I don't notice any more power, what I do notice is the sound (obviously) and less jerkiness in 1st and 2nd gears (torque loss?). Frankly, I like the early gears being a bit smoother, easier for the wife to drive with the manual tranny. I have the stock MAF on, and mine is a ebay special.
no no no, IMHO it filters WAY better. the good brands IMO are:
apexi, weapon r, k+n, and there are alot more filters from TRUSTED brands out there.
personally, i think the apexi is the best just from reading about it, but i love my Weapon R Dragon intake, its way loud and mean sounding.

EDIT:actually less. $39 and almost forgot the filter itself has the best airflow design in my opinion, with the implementation of a special type of velocity stack and stabilizing vanes the filter heps avoid incorrect MAF turbulence readings, pair that with a MAF adapter ring and you got a nice intake.

okay first of all these filters are all great, personally I think the monsterflow filter is the best because it uses a silcone tacking agent that prolongs the life of your MAF, obviously it would take a while to show its effectiveness.. but it also has better flow and still manages to capture the same particulate as the others. you can order them from cattman for around the same price.

-Hey I might as well chime in too
-Well I recently bought and installed a K&N cone filter and MAF adapter from ebay. I basically accepted the fact that there is no noticeable hp gain from any intake system for the fourth gen (except a TRUE cai) but there is a nice sound available! I went with the K&N simply because it is a trusted name. The loss of low end power is barley noticeable. When you replace ur stock air box with a "cone" filter your intake system is open to ur entire engine bay, which is good for top end air flow. However, your stock air box creates a fast available chamber of air for ur engine to suck in right when u stomp on the gass giving ur max some nice low end torque, this available air is reduced when you get rid of your stock air box resulting in a SLIGHT loss of low end power.
-As far as a aftermarket mid pipe is concerned (throttle body -----> air box), from what i hear they have a smaller volume than the stock one. This is gona reduce that chamber of availble air even more resulting in a greater low end power loss.
Anyway, overall I like my K&N cone and she loves to growel over 3500 rpms, and works great with my warpspeed y-pipe. The Y-pipe was put in a week ago and I swear its not louder but i get some new "notes" out of my engine that I couldnt hear before.
P.S.
Who needs low end power anyway? If anything I need all the traction I can get. When my friends get in my car and they go "Hey so is this thing fast" i dont sit there and do a burn out. I simply drive slowly in 1st gear, bring her up to sayy 3800 rmps and stomp on it and watch my buddies head hit the head rest.
Feel free to
away on my spelling/grammar/punctuation
