getting rid of raspy sound in exhaust

I have a 95 auto maxima with a CE y-pipe, CE high flow cat, and Stillen Cat-back exhaust. I've heard the Stillen exhausts are sort of just naturally raspy sounding, but I wanna do whatever I can to get rid of that annoying raspiness. I want it to sound nice and clean and deep all the way through the RPM band. It happens most notcably when im goin like 20 or 30 mph and i push the gas kinda hard to make it downshift and give it a lot of throttle (but not WOT) it sounds the worst. When it cruises normally though, it sounds great. What can I do to help this??

if you bought them, you should have done your research first!

you have to buy new parts now.

the stillin exaust is very loud, sounds nice, but freking loud and annoying, and it doesnt go away. no way to lower the volume or change the sound, not even a resonator.

the y-pipe is causing the raspyness. i think WARPSPEED is the only one that created the y-pipe without the raspyness to it. or some people call it, bee's in a can. i think they are differnt (bee's and rasp, but i could be wrong). i have a CE y-pipe and stillen exaust and its nice for reving behind people to make them speed up, but other than that its annoying.

if i were you i would go with greddy for the exaust and call up warpspeed (they dont do email things anymore) for the y-pipe.

other than that, get a y-pipe and b-pipe and strap on the STOCK muffler... why stock? because its the most queit, and the muffler wont add any performance no matter what aftermarket muffler you add - mabe 1hp or 2hp at most.

thanks for the advice, but I'm lookin to keep what i got. can you give me any suggestions to fix the exhaust setup i got? and why would stillen make such a crappy sounding exhaust? I always thought they made quality ****, thats why their so expensive.

You would think with as much as they charge. Unfourtunatly the problem with your set up lies with the muffler. (I have heard a lot of different exhaust setups and my friend has the stillen exhaust, so i know what you are talking about) The only thing i can think of to put a band aid on your situation is add a resonator. This will probably just make the raspyness quieter and not get rid of it.

I like the way my exhaust looks on my car, so i don't really wanna just throw a stock muffler of a 5th gen muffler on or something. What if i kept my same steup and threw a Greddy muffler on but kept the rest of the stillen cat-back. would that fix my problem? if the problem is the size of the muffler itself, how come greddy doesn't sound raspy? it's got like a fatter muffler than the stillen!

Why not a stock muffler and a nice tip? Would keep some good looks and maybe tone down the exhaust note. Do you still have your stock muffler?

the y-pipe is causing alot of this rasp. your mufler will only quiet it.
i recomend the greddy catback because i belive that it comes with a resonator (not entierly certain). it would make a nice sound too.

other than that, i would use a b-pipe of any type, preferibly with a resonator, and use the stock mufler and a nice tip. why? because the b-pipe is what adds the performance and your still going to be pritty loud because of the y-pipe, and the best chance of lowering the rasp is with the stock mufler. add the nice tip for coolness.
