Houston, we have a problem...
So, my start up problem is getting worse. After it sits for a few hours, it takes a good 4 or 5 cranks for 5-10 seconds each to get it started.
But now the problem is, it dies on me while im driving. I can be at a light, in drive, and the POS will up and die. I can crank it all I want after that but until I let it sit there completely off for 5 minutes or more, it aint starting.
So Kev told me to run a diagnostic test even though there wasnt a CEL, and 0908 came up. ECTS. Well I got the new sensor, Im going under the hood tomorrow and changing it, but some way I just dont see the ECTS fixing this problem...
Any suggestions? any one?

awesome, you mind helping me out with a few instructions on how to change the sensor? I know so far that you just unplug it, and unscrew it and screw in the new one and wala, but any tips that make it easier or anything I should know first?
engine coolant temps sensors... hm.. common sense would be since you have the sensor already and your going to do it tomorrow would be to do it before you drive your car hopefully. with a cold car there is less pressure build up in the system and you won't loose that much coolant and you dont burn yourself. i don't know what the sensor looks like but i've done a couple on camry's all you need is a deep size socket and it should be in and out in 5 mins
So I read the voltage on the plug which shows 5.00-5.02, so the plug is good and the wiring too. I checked the resistance on the actual sensor, and heres what I got
at outside temp (7-80 degrees) it was giving me 2.7Kohms (normal reading according to Haynes Guide)
but I heated up some water to boiling, which is close enough to 100 degrees, where it should be reading out .2Kohms, and instead it was reading out 1.3Kohms, so I tried again and it went down to .9Kohms. Neither of those readings are correct for the temperature the sensor was at, which proves that the sensor is getting mixed readings.
hopefully this will fix my problem. Ill let yall know as soon as I do.

Thats Voila
Watch me pull a wabit out of my hat.
walla!
But good luck with it and let us know how it goes. The old readings seem way off. This would make the engine think it is too cold or something and **** with the fuel system to compensate.

Ah, so I wasnt spelling it right, I gotcha.
Right, so what you said was exactly what was happening, and ever since I got that new sensor, car runs fine, and its even helped with the starting problem a little bit, Im still seeing if maybe something in my fuel system will readjust itself considering its only been since last night that I replaced the part.
Anyways, cars running good again just need a tranny flush soon.
I got a write up on how to change that ECTS incase anyone wants it...

Took pictures while I did it and wrote down some notes, and just wrote my own little procedure up, hope it helps someone along the road.
