power antenna unit removal/install

Is there a link to a how-to on removal of power antenna unit? I tried replacing the antenna mast, but it seems to be stuck and won't come out, so I need to take out the unit, unless someone has another suggestion. Thanx.

Is it just sticking? If so, put some lube at the points where in contracts shut, like graphite or something of that sort. I only have to do that once every 6 months and it fixes the problem every time. Check out Haynes or Chiltons for actual replacement procedures. It's a good investment anyway.

How did you try to pull it out? From what I remember when I replaced the mast, you have to turn the radio on to extend the antenna ... and pull it out while it is extending.

My antenna was stuck, and the motor kept making noise to try to bring it up every time I started my car. The noise got annoying, so I disconnected the power antenna lead at the radio. The antenna stays stuck raised (though probably not all the way up). Do you think it will come out if I reconnected the power to the antenna and try to remove it while the motor is running?
