Looks good, doesn't look like you used clearcoats though. Should've used a primer... the graphite looks a bit dull.

When I put clearcoat on mine I did it mostly for cleaning purposes. Without the clearcoat the finish on the paint is very dull, and hard to clean... also MUCH easier to ding or scratch. Congrats.

Yeah looks good. You couldve used a dull or semi-gloss clearcoat as well if you didnt want the shine. That can be bought from any hobby store. It would atleast protect it a little better. Overall though it looks nice. Good color choice with the tan. Maybe post a pic through the driver door with it open to get a look at the full effect.

Looks great. I cant wait to try the metallic titanium color. Anyone know what kinda paint it is for a duller clear coat? I dont want it to shinny either but want the added protection.

yea this is the best pic I got right now:

the door handle pieces pop off at the top and bottom towards the front of the car, and theres a flap that holds it on the rear edge. the window switch trim is the opposite i think, i'll check this when i get home.

you don't have to use any specific paint...i have used a regular house paint with a high heat resistant finish on a dash before and it looked great...last long too

I just installed everything in the car today and I have that same paint smell. I hope it goes away. I'll post pics tomorrow hopefully of how it came out. I was wondering how to take out the side vents tho. I tried popping them out but they dont seem to want to and I dont want to break anything. How'd you guys take them out?

While you might get away with regular paint, I strongly recommend Krylon Fusion. It's the best paint for plastic, hands down. You could probably find it at Home Depot or something, but the Home Depots in Vancouver don't carry it. I know that Canadian Tire has a huge selection of Krylon paints though.

I actually like this colour, and I think it would look great in my black interior. I personally think it'll look less tacky than silver. I might give this a shot if I can find the right paint!

Also, is there a guide anywhere that shows the removal in the dash pieces? I don't want to break anything trying to figure things out myself

yes there is: http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=55

when i first saw it i was like ...but then i got to doing it and it was quite easy.

also, if you want that color...i used the duplicolor graphite wheel paint and clear coat (but i barely used the clearcoat cause i didnt want it to shine).

Thanks a lot! I'll give it a shot when I have some time!

Wheel paint seems to be a good choice, after reading the VQ guide:

I used Duplicolor wheel paint (silver) to do my dash. The reason, the wheel paint is made to adhere specifically to plastics, and it is also engineered to resist chipping and scratches.

No paint, but I do have a wood-finish, stick-on, accent pieces. Makes for a much more refined look. When I get it a Maxima that doesn't have them (most of them) it looks like a completely different car.

Ok I finished doing my dash, I got my Ambient Temp button in, and it all looks great.

Problem: I still need to get the side vents out. I started to pull but dont want to break them. I can't find my manual so I'm stuck. Someone said they can come out if the dash is taken out but that seems way over the top. Who knows how to take them out?

Also I will post my pics very soon...just waiting on my sisters digi cam

Ok I finally got my sis's digi cam and took some pics of the dash. I ended up using SEM Paint and it came out great.

You can see the button in the middle of the ACC. That's my custom ambient temp button.

You can barely see the glove box handle on this pic but it was painted as well.

I have a 1998 tahoe which the dash is made out of plastic entirely and I pulled the dash out and sanded the texture smooth. I then mixed up regular paint you would use to paint your car and added some of that Flex paint additive so it wouldn't crack under the heat of summer. I've had that done now for 4 years and the dash still looks freshly painted. The only thing I would suggest is don't use rattle can paint and take your time preping the plastic pieces.

we've all aready done it lol. most of us used dupilicolor wheel paint, i believe would fit under your description as "rattle can paint". i dont know about everyone elses but mine is pretty damn durable.

Its quite easy. It just takes time and patience. I just finished a black interior swap and had to paint the passenger airbag black. Got to looking and the airbag looked newer and better than the rest so I bought some more cans of non-sandible primer, Duplicolor Vinyl & Fabric, and Top Coat from Autozone. Neddless to say the entire dash now looks AWESOME. just take your time and be carefull of overspray. Took me a total of 4-5 hours. Now I'm moving to spraying my other interior trim parts.

looks great Cdg2125, nice job. i see you got to the side vents.( did you get the defrost vents?they pop out too, the side ones and the main window ones ) i read in a sport compact about spray cans and how putting em up side down in hot water makes em spray 'cleaner and smoother'. just my 2c. they did a wrx that way flat black.

Hey thanks a lot. I didnt do the top vents. I'm still deciding if I want to do them or not. I like the contrast I have now/not sure I want to compromise it. Plus im out of paint haha.
