Damn it, I almost had it.

For the first time, i was aiming for 30mpg.
It was going great, and I thought that would easily reach that, because I compare this with other fill ups, and usually at the half way point i'm 230ish and get 26~7mpg and this time I was 260 at the half way. But something bad happened, it was rainy and i turned the lights on and forgot to turn it off, my battery died, and I did not know that and tried to start the car for 10minutes, which probably killed lots of gas. Anyway, I filled up the gas again at 360miles and 12.3gallons were put it, and it was 29.3mpg. And i thought dam it i was so close, and I think it would have been 31ish mpg without the battery waste and starting attempts.
I just wanted to share my experience.
Oh yeah, this is with bad EGR thingy and 50%highway driving.

Auto or manual?

My best mileage was 29.3x/4x or something on a 5speed.

explain what you've done to your car to make it get such good mileage. I don't get anywhere near that.

I go WOT way too much to get good mileage

Picked up my 82 year old mom at the airport yesterday and asked her, "Mom, have you ever gone 100 miles and hour before??"

Did she say "Have you ever had to clean human $hit off a seat before?"

I drive a 5th gen so I dont know if its diff but lately i've been getting 27 or so mpg, and I was thinking I was going to get better then that last week, but I had a track date and thats never good for mileage. But I've noticed the weeks I get better mileage are the same weeks and I've taken my car on some quick 0-60 runs or more just a few times but I'm still getting great mileage.

At my last fill up i was doing 503km to 61 litres which i think translates to ~19 mpg. It kinda sucks seeing the numbers some of you are getting. This is a 99 auto with 133k miles on it, ypipe, bpipe,CAI and a sub+full size spare in the trunk.
Needless to say milage improved significantly after a new knock sensor, TB cleaning and seafoaming.

edit: just found my last gas receipt... 57liters for that 503 km...20mpg wooo

I do just about 30 easily if im just about all highway, 98 I30, stock except CAI, but it always uses synthetic oil, tranny fluid, and that is with FuelPower gas additive, unfortunatly its an auto, ohh and its just under 90k

Thanx for responses.
My car is basically stock with 140k miles except for hacked airbox (i think this kills the gas mileage).
I'm not manual, and I dont shift under 2k like the other guy. I shift at around 3~3.5k, and occasionally 5k for fun. My car is not in perfect condition, the car throws cel code, which reads EGR and I think this drops 1~2mpg, always use 93octane, there's no 91 here.
I get good mileage because I dont drive like a maniac and yeah. I think i can get around 32mpg if I do all highway, will see. If you dont get over 24, I think there's something wrong with ur car, unless you drive like a maniac and lots of stop and go.

My max gets about 25-27 avg. I can get 30mpg as long as I can keep my speed around 60-65 and just highway crusing. Changed the O2 sensors(3) and KS & egr valve. I'm pushing 124k and the car is impressive. How many cars can get 30mpg and top out at 140???
