LED Tails - taking it to extreme...

Here is the preproduction set that I am selling. It features Lumileds Superlflux LEDs that are usually found in the tails of high-end cars. Same LEDs for parking lights and brakes, intensity is adjustable. Click on the link in my sig to see how I am going to handle the turn signals and reverse. These sets will be for sale in a few days.

Some pics...

DRIVER BOX

Bottom dial adjusts intensity of parking lights, when you hit brakes, they fully lit up.

Leds visually connect into one string of light.

Are you selling the complete tails or are these inserts that go in the stock tails after they've been opened up that you're selling?
Price?

Problem with those 5mm LEDs that were used in those tails is a sucky viewing angle of only 15 to 20 degrees. But they do look good.

Superfluxes are manufactured by Lumileds, few distributers are out there who carry them.

Wait guys untill you see final product. I am finishing soldering bottom section lights and still have to work out few kinks with the voltage regulation, want these to last forewer!

About pricing, they will be just like 95-96 red clears, everyone will want them but only few will be able to afford

So what angle superflux are you using? You said 15-20degree Led are sucky so just wondering what you are using.

How do they look weak? Kevlo's provided tails to quite a few people but I have yet to hear them referred to as weak...

Superfluxes I use are rated at 11,000 MCD with 40 degrees viewing angle. with 24 in inner tail and 30 of them in outer (total 108 leds), lighting power is more than adequate. For comparison, new Accord uses only 18 LEDs in each tail, but they use a reflector to enhance the lighting intensity. I'll try later to light up incadescent bulb next to them so comparing would be easier.

price? can you do it on the CE red/clear tails? You do retrofit too right? How much? Are you gonna provide all that's needed or do we have to ship it to you?

Still working out some voltage regulation kinks (need more heat sinks to order), but here I am successfully testing blinkers and reverse. Also down below boards are ready to be mounted in the tails.

And here are reverse.

And the boards ready to be put into tails after I tint the lower part.

Pricing is going to be at least $400 with your tails for a full LED setup. Or I could ship parts to you and you could put them in. Yes it would look great in red clears. Looking at how much time I invested into research and testing I will produce only 4 sets (have already customer on one). These tails take way to much time to produce (assembling the control box takes as much time as soldering LEDs), so I am not sure if even at that price it will pay me to do these. I will see how interest goes about these LED tails. Final pricing will be set once I mount and take pics of the first set.

The first 3 sets already have the buyers. Only one left.

- The final price is $415 + shipping to you + your tails (optional tinting is free)
- 3 Months of warranty (faulty LEDs burn out early, in first few weeks)
- Please allow about 10 days for delivery

If you would like to secure last set for yourself, you may do a downpayment and ship a set of tails to me. If you are unable to pay when set is ready to be shipped, I will refund the money and will sell to whoever can pay.

If I will ever produce more sets, depending on interest, price will be higher to reflect the real labor time I put in, or what is more realistic I will sell just partially assembled components.

Replied.

So far no updates since I am still trying to figure to control the heat generated by voltage regulators. Meanwhile few pics where you can appreciate wide viewing angle of superflux leds.

Pictures taken with flash off.

WOW, looks incredible. I wonder how this will look with the OEM spoiler LED 3rd brake light... might have to brighten it up a little.

Camera does not nearly reflect their intensity. In fact if I would put them on my car, I would tone them down a little.
