Did you either ground the park/neutral sensor, or wire it up to a clutch switch?

grounded it

should i wire it to the clutch switch

instead of running the wire to the clutch we just connected the 2 wires together

it cranks over, just wont run / turn over
there is a clicking noise when we start put the key in the ignition

You don't have to wire to a clutch switch, I guess I worded that as an either/or, and not an 'either or nothing' question.

Have you checked if you're getting spark? Pull out a plug, connect it to the coil pack, and ground it to something. Crank, and see if it fires.

Put your stock ECU back in. An auto will still run with the transmission removed as long as the park/nuetral switch is bypassed, you will just get a CEL for the tranny codes.

isn't the 97-99 different from the 95-96? Cause first of all 95-96 have a o2 right after cat, while the 97-99 have the o2 in the b pipe. I don't know anything else but you might want to get a 5spd ECU from a 97-99. I'm not sure but that is my guess.

Yep, you must pull that ring and install it on the manual flywheel. Time to pull the tranny...

I've done this EXACT swap, make sure you have the starter connected properly. If it just cranks, its the crank sensor, make sure it's plugged in and bolted down. It's easy to iss in the swap, and you won't start without it. You can run either ECU, your car will run the same.

beats me I'm going to do the 5spd swap sometime soon hopefully so when the time comes I'm calling the people on CMC over to help me out.

Oh and good luck with the car, hope everything works out for you. Don't forget to post back and tell us if it worked or not.

It HAS to be a sensor... namely the crank sensor that reads the teeth on the flywheel. You have any CEL codes?

I experienced the same exact symptoms because of this timing ring. The reason my flywheel didn't have it is because I took the flywheel from a friend of mines that replaced it with a Fidanza. He didn't know and neither did I that the timing ring had to be removed from the stock flywheel and put on the Fidanza. But Nismo3112 is right. If you didn't install an aftermarket flywheel, the timing ring will be on the stock one unless you bought it from a person that removed it from there car.
