1. The rear pipe joins the main pipe at a ~90-degree angle. You'd be lucky to even approach the hp gains of a Y-pipe with those headers.

2. Headers are MUCH more of a pain to install than a Y-pipe. Less space to work and more fasteners to remove.

3. OBX's fitment blows. They might fit right, they might not. You might even have to grind stuff down.

4. OBX's quality isn't exactly 100%, and their customer service sucks.

If you're going to drop $300+ on a performance mod, get a Cattman stainless steel Y-pipe. At least that way you know it'll fit right, come with the right gaskets (Nissan OEM), give good gains, and last forever. Otherwise, just get an aluminized steel Y-pipe from Redlinemax and spend your >$100 change on booze and strippers or something.

i think the OBX are complete crap, even my stone racing shorty headers are better than those, no 90deg bends, just much better midrange and top-end (then again most maximas don't have my mods, so... decide accordingly)

the only modd you have to do to make them fit 100% is shave down one of your motor mounts and thats about it.

AKA they don't fit the car they were designed for.

I just bought a redlinemax pipe since my flex blew out on the interstate. It sounds 100 percent ghetto when its cold. Im looking forward to getting it and hopefully a HP gain.

Confirmed. According to Motorvate, the stock cat is 2.5" in and out, but the stock Y-pipe just happens to have 2" piping.

This is interesting, because I've been looking at high-flow cats and the cats that Magnaflow lists for our cars are only available with 2" or 2.25" inlets and outlets... Not a bad thing if you're otherwise stock, but a bad idea if you have an aftermarket 2.5" Y-pipe...

Maybe I'll post a warning thread about that...
