Bleeding.... tranny... dying...

I knew it was gonna happen... I had some guy change my clutch 6 or 7 months ago and it's been giving me trouble since... I don't know what he did, but soon after he replaced my clutch play developed in the drivetrain and then input bearing noise started. I've been putting off doing anything cause I am broke and I don't wanna bring it back to this guy, and now she's bleeding... It's tranny fluid... expensive amsoil tranny fluid... and I am gonna have to rebuild the tranny or replace it. Tomorrow I will get under there and see if I can find the source and if everything is tight and sealed right. But I know it's gonna have to be dropped prolly soon... I just hope i can make her last another couple of weeks.

I just want to see if anyone in Houston area can help me out or has a tranny for not too much. I have never done this before and I dunno if i can or not. I am sad... Any advice is welcome. Or some really nice person who will spend a weekend helping me in exchange for food...

I got under the car just now. It looks like for sure it's leaking from the driver's side axle, and maybe passenger. Would explain why it's covering my control arm. I opened up the fill hole and the fluid is not too far from the top of the hole... so I doubt I have leaked more than a quart... still bad. I need to get some fluid and fill it, then maybe in a couple of weeks I can do what I need to.

Damn, its never a good feeling when you realize work that was done on your car wasnt quality.

Maybe when they were re-installing the axles they tore the axle seal which would explain the leak, or maybe the seal wasnt seated properly and left an opening for fluid to leak out.

As for the noise your tranny is making, If someone in the area is willing to help you, take off the tranny and inspect insidel. What type of clutch did you put it?

Also a tranny with the input bearing failure can still last quite a while, a year or so ago I was good friends with being broke and my tranny had the input shaft bearings fail, and axle boot broken, I had to pray and keep driving. Thank goodness I got her fixed eventually (alsmot a year later) and shes lovely now.

Yeah, I'm hoping that it lasts a little longer. I had a 5th gen clutch put in, and I like it... I really hate letting other people work on my car... for this very reason. If only I had a lift. I think it's gonna be hard to find someone around here to help out. Not a whole lot of people from houston on this forum.

You really don't need a lift to change a tranny.
