AC Fan slows down on long trips

Now that hot weather is here, by AC fan will slow down a lot after more than 90 minutes of continuous driving. The air is still cold, but the low air speed means it can't keep the car cool against constant sunshine. If we stop an hour for lunch, the air speed goes right back to normal.

Is it possible the coils are freezing over, and that's why the air speed is dropping? Anyone else have a problem like this?

Sounds quite possible. Humid area? Maybe you need to have the refrigerant removed, dessicated, replaced. Consult an A/C expert.

Blower Motor Resistor....

I am having a similar problem. What I think it is, is a resistor on the blower motor housing not working properly due to heat. It causes the blower motor to receive less voltage and causing the motor to slow down. Do you hear the fan clicking slightly as it slows down? Replacing the blower motor will not fix it if that is the problem. I think think you will have to have the dealer fix it. The Haynes Repair manual for the Maxima has been helpful with this.

Thank you! Funny, I have the Haynes manual somewhere, but didn't think to look that up. Do you think replacing the resistor fixes the problem?

Process of elimnation at this point. I would replace that or test it out with a DMM. Hopfully you don't have another electrical problem somewhere else.
