Ac compressor

Ac compressor

When i turn on my ac the light comes on but you dont hear the compressor kickin on and it just blows out hot air, i was wondering if there was a way to see if its just the freon bein low or if i need a new compressor? i didnt know if there was a fuse for the compressor that might of blew or what. well let me know..thanks

Have the system serviced by a qualified A/C tech.
You need an A/C machine to check your refrigerant level and fill the system correctly.

njmaxseltd's idea is the best, a certified A/C technician. However, if you want to find out if you have too low or high R134a pressure keeping the compressor from kicking on, just unplug the respective sensor (will be on the high or low side lines under the hood), and short across the two connectors. If the compressor kicks on, that's your problem.

Chances are, anyway, that you have very little refrigerant in there and it just needs to be recharged.

autozone has a recharge kit with the hose, refrigerant, a/c boost, and stop leak for 38 bucks. I'm about to try this since 38 is better then 400.
