body kit question?
NOOO!
Shame on you medicsonic! You gave ionicmax the WRONG information. No, the '97/'99s can NOT use a front or a rear from the '95/'96 Stillin kits. They do share the same side skirts but that's it. Sorry man.

, but what a bummer, I'm probably going to have to buy them new
I'm about to get a 97-99 front bumper. So, when I want to order a Stillen kit, I would have to tell them that I need a 97-99 front lip, 95-96 side skirts and rear valance. Talk about an identity crisis.

or
Come on SprintMax...
Are you pulling our leg? I did toooooons of homework before buying my kit and, although I have not put the 95/96 pieces up to a 97/99 rear bumper (or vise-versa), all sources pointed to NO! Including anyone I talked to at Stillen (just call/e-mail them yourslef). In fact, I have a '96 and I HATE my stupid, little dinky rear Stillen pieces that slope up and don't connect to each other. I actually wanted the 97/99 pieces but was told from a number of sources it won't work. So, I totally appologize if I am not right about this but I have to say I seriously think you are wrong. Let's see some pictures! I didn't see any rear pieces on your car in your picture. I think that you either a.) have the 97/99 pieces but think they are the 95/96 pieces or b.) somehow forced the 95/96 pieces on there but they don't fit like they should. Let's see a pic. SprintMax, I'm very curious. I hope you are right - I'd love to get the 97/99s for my '96! Have a great day guys.

I never said you said the 97/99 would fit on a 95/96, did I? Where did you get that from? I was making a point that the two kits are not interchangeable. Period.
And I love how you conveniently ignored my request for pictures, ignored the fact that I said Stillen themselves say that the two kits are not interchangable and my claim that you either have 97/99s on there or they fit wrong if they are 95/96s. Because you KNOW I'm right! Anyway, let's see some pictures ignore-boy! LOL.
Anyway, point being - ionicmax, don't buy the 95/96 rears for your car.

1.)ptatohead, sounds like fighting words between you and Sprint.
2.)Supposedly denotes an uncertainty. I never said, 'it definitely will fit". Try posting this around the forum. Most peole will say that one kit is almost interchangable with the other.

medicsonic,
1.) I appologize if my words sounded like "fightin' words". lol. That wasn't my intention. I just was a little frustrated that SprintMax could make a claim that the 95/96 rears will fit on his '97 but he can't provide a picture or explain why even Stillen themselves say they are not interchangable. Once again, show me the pictures and I'll gladdy eat my words. But I am 95% positive that won't happen - because the 95/96s will NOT fit properly on the 97/99s. The rear bumper is longer on the 97/99s.
2.) I'm surprised you still feel that it will work after everything you read. You are wrong. And no, if you post around there is no way most people will say it will work because most people here are very knowledgeable and know their stuff. Go for it, you'll see.
Anyway, I am going to conclude with 'Show me a picture'.
O.k., 5 o'clock, I'm outa here! Have a good one guys.

my conclusion....
95-96 and 97-99 stillen front and rear kit is different! agreed? we can visually see the difference in the front bumper, but we can't visually see the difference in the rear between the models correct? now, i have read somewhere that the rear bumper is ~2inches longer from the side in the 97-99...now assuming this statement is true....with the 95-96 stillen rear pieces is only attached to the side of the rear bumper i don't see y this would not fit onto the 97-99.....but vice versa i don't think the 97-99 stillen rear will fit the 95-96 because the 97-99 rear bumper is ~2 inches longer and plus the stillen rear for 97-99 wrap around the bumper...anyone agree or disagree????
Re: You aren't the brightest bulb in the lamp store, are you?
it really doesn't matter what you say.. i couldn't care less.. i already told you what i told you.. if wish to decide other wise.. thats your business.. take what i say.. or dont' take what i say.. but i do say.. the 96 rear will fit a 97 bumper.. end of story
stillen says lots of things.. they say they dont' sell the Fuel controller while another rep says they do.. they say the Supercharger will not work with an Auto.. but people here have it
call me a liar all you want.. but don't post around here saying stillen says this and that.. people will laugh at you

Excuuuuuuse me. 'I have them for my 97' could very easily be misconstrude for they are already on your car. But that actually makes my point all the more - you have NO prouf they will fit (and more importantly - look right).
****
i have them in my room.. i have checked for fittment ... and they DO fit..
****
What's your definition of 'fit'?! To me, fit should mean it 100% installs and LOOKS GOOD. I guess anything can "fit" with the right bolts and glue, but will it follow the lines, not have gaps, and not look forced or out of place?
****
now its not painted so obviously its not installed ...
****
Fair enough, but how about a picture when it is? E-mail me at ptatohed@netero.net, o.k.? But I have a bad feeling it won't look right on there.
****
but if you say that something i say is not true.. thats callign me a liar
****
Nope, I NEVER called you a liar - just try to find a quote of mine stating you are, you won't find one. What I said was you are wrong.
Once again, the proof is in the pictures, let's see 'em...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: You aren't the brightest bulb in the lamp store, are you?
Why are you guys getting on my case? The whole point of this forum is to share stories, get advice, learn, teach and feel a part of a community and have pride in your car. I don't just post to post or to get in to verbal fights, I post to either gain knowledge or share the knowledge I have. The original question was 'Can I fit '95/96 rear ground effects on my '97? I answered because I have knowledge in this area and the answer is NO. I am trying to help someone from buying an inusable part(s) and wasting their money. It bothers me that someone else would answer wrongly. So why do you get on me for tying to help?

LOL, I assumed what?! I never assumed anything. As I said before, I brought up the 97/99 not fitting a 95/96 to make a point that the kits are not interchangeable. In either direction. The rear bumpers ARE different! Period. It is a fact. Just as Stillen didn't make new side skirts when the 97s came out, they would not have remade the rear pieces if they fit perfectly. So what exactly did I assume?
he also never said it was on there yet, you assumed that too...
***** You are right, I did. But it only strengthens my case all the more that I was wrong. THEY DO NOT FIT!! And he has no proof that they fit.

***** I already said, I'll be more than happy to let it go when I see some pictures! I already said I will be more than happy to admit I'm wrong if and when I see pictures of a 95/96 rear on a 97/99 (and they look GOOD). It won't happen.
It just so happened that my ground effects are peeling and I had to bring them back to my painter under warranty. Well, just for you guys I took my 95/96 rear piece and found a 97/99 in my apt. complex and 'dry fitted' it. Just as I knew! The 97/99 bumper is a good 1" - 1.5" longer (closer to 1" - not quite the 2" I've read about). However, it is just enough to make the piece look funny. My conclusion is yes, it can be physically installed but will it look right? NO! The side looks fine but when it wraps around to the rear, it sits in an inch+. So you get a stair case effect. Looks real lame from behind. Like I said, it isn't made for it and that is the advice I gave and that is the advice I'm sticking to. Anyone else who gives conflicting advice is doing this forum and the people who post questions an injustice.
Have a good one guys...

So what was the end result Sprint? Did you ever install the rear pieces?
