Best way to get this out. . . maybe fire?

I know the pic gives away how I could get it out but I dont that (forgot the name) and even if I went to pick one up I dont have a solid enough table to bolt it down to.

I thought I saw a pic where some one flame broiled it out, can I pick up some fire and burn it out pretty easy?

I would have bought a new one had I remembered to add it to my list and I wont have time to buy one before monday (work) or tuesday (going out of town).

Thanks.

werd man.... its 12$ for the torch burn as much of that crap as possible then MAKE SURE you remove the metal sleve that is insid that tube... do it with a blade from a hack saw.. just be careful not to gouge the surface of the metal...

Fire works, not much else does. Make sure if you're buying a torch to get a MAPP gas torch instead of propane. Propane is fine for sweating a few copper pipes, and cheaper, but for car work you want the extra heat.

**Update:**

The propane torch was good for just about nothing. It heated up the rubber but didnt do much besides make everything very hot.

Eventually With the head a few other tricks I got the piece out but I only got it out of the rubber, so the extra ring thing is still on it, preventing me from putting it in the new control arm. Anyone have any ideas on how to get that off? Its stubborn as everything and not sure how to get it out.

Now that I think about it I should have taken the route shown in my first post, that way I would have un-screwed it from inside the control arm. Fire even if hot enough was the wrong way to go, I would have just melted the rubber but left it still inside that metal cylinder.

I had this exact problem. To get the ring off I took my grinder, ground out a groove in the ring just flush with the silver arm, then peeled the ring off.
