Im new to this forum and the maxima as well....i am having a tough time deciding on what to buy for my 98 beige SE maxima. It is currently all stock, the only things i have on it is superwhite headlights, tint, and sound system. I got about 400$ and i do not know what to get. 400$ i know isnt enough for cosmetics (aero kit, wheels/rims) so that why im turning elsewhere; power or suspension.

Apart from the accessories that i could buy, what would give my car the best "bang for the buck"? I would like to get the car a little faster (automatic) yet i want a better suspension, maybe a combination of the 2. Let me know what you guys would reccomend.

Im thinking that 400$ would be ample for some sort of suspension stiffning or maybe more power. I do not have alot of money to spend only 400....

Thanx
Jordan

Remember, maximas need supension upgrades much more than power upgrades.

Unfortunately $400 is not quite enough for springs/shocks, unless you go Eibach/KYB.

so springs, ok......do i need shocks? If i only got springs it would still have body roll and flex i assume. And would the rsb, fstb, rstb be beneficial?

thanx again

I would do the springs/shocks at one time.

Alternative to $400. FSTB and RSB + JWT cone filter.

Generally, I would agree that suspension is what is lacking in a stock Maxima but $400 won't get you Eibach's and Tokico's. So either save for them, another $150, or do something similar to what Jeff92se suggests:
Front Strut Tower Brace - $50
Addco Rear Sway Bar - $150
Place Racing Cold Air Intake - $200

can i get just the eibach or h&r springs and use it on my stock se shocks? That way i can lower the car a bit, and i will have enough money for maybe a RSB and a FSTB! Will just getting the springs without shocks do the job, or do i have to get shocks also?

Thanx

$400 worth of scratch off lottery tickets, and parlay it into a small fortune.

Seriously, I agree with jeff92se and sinewave.

which will i notice most difference with, shocks and springs, or the sway and strut bars.....either way, can i get the shocks and springs first then later get the bars,(or viceversa) or is that pointless?

I ask because i know that i am going to get both, question is which one first, and will the other one be beneficial once the first is installed....

1) Where is the best place to get them online?

2) How far will the car be off the ground once i get the lower h&r springs and the stillen body kit?

3)Once i get it lowered, can i still put 19" rims on it even tho the wheel well got smaller from lowering

Many questions.....

Thanx alot

LOTTERY.......

a voluntary tax on the mathematically challenged.

You could just do the springs, but there is a lot of labor involved that would have to be repeated when you got new struts. Some on the board have said that stock struts won't last long with stiffer springs, others have done it with no problem.

You may want to consider used parts. It takes some time waiting for them to show and you have to constantly monitor the for-sale forum and Ebay but you can save a bundle of cash.

Sprint Springs first-$141 shipped from alex@southwestautoworks.com ; in fact, i just ordered my self a set about 2hrs ago, or you could always buy my apex springs for $50 + shipping. after springs, go with a y-pipe.. that will run you $210 from budget mufflers or something.. 905-681-4579.. now you are left with $49 left. go to www.southwestautoworks.com and purchase alex's FSTB, $49 dollars i think. if you buy the springs from him too, there will be less shippings cost for both. so totall will run you $400-410 for springs, y-pipe and FSTB. or if you buy my springs, you will have another $70ish and you can by a popcharger from www.southwestautoworks.com too!

Since you have an SE suspension I would recommend the Adcco RSB, you WILL feel the improvement. And then get the Budget y-pipe. The best bang for the buck!!
