Recommended Spark Plugs

I havent had my plugs changed in about 1.5 years. I put about 40 miles a day, averaging about 90 mph. I need something than can help my performance. What plugs should I get? How much will they run me? Where can I purchase them?
Thanks alot for the tips!!!

it looks like there's an error on that site. i think that the $2.05 plugs on the site are actually the copper v-powers? the platinum plugs cost more than that.

NGK coppers. Only thing is that they have to be changed more often then platinum, but they're better for the car. Or Denso plugs, which is what Nissan recommends.

you can get the g power fine electrode center for $2.50 range. I don't know if they are better than the copper v powers?

How many miles do you have on the plugs? I highly doubt they need to be replaced.

I'm coming up to 64K, mostly highway miles on my 95SE that I've owned since day 1, and I've never changed the plugs. The car runs as well as it did from the beginning.

Good Morning,

Thank you for your email. All parts in are catalog are priced as marked.
Most people do tend to think that a lot of the prices are incorrect because
they are so low. However, because we do not have any overhead, we are able to
keep our prices much lower.

If you need further assistance please respond to this email or call us toll
free at 1-866-762-5288.

Have a great day,

Jodi

When in doubt see what NGK has on their website. The OEM plats are PFR5G-11 (pick your car and you'll see " DOHC (Original Equipment Manufacturer, and/or Original Equipment Service Part)". I did use the BKR5E-11's (V-Power copper) but they just last less time (30K vs 60K).

The G platinums are listed as 'super' instead of 'premium' so I would assume they are inferior in some form (maybe how much platinum is actually used)?

where do you get BKR5E-11's from? do they come ready to go in or do you have to regap them? thanks.

Any NGK plugs of which model number don't start with either "P" or "I" don't last as long as the ones that start with P or I. PFR5G11 has platinum in both center and outer electrodes. That is why sometimes "Premium Platinum" is called "Double Platinum." BKR5EGP doesn't have a platinum outer electrode.

I don't pretend to be an expert on spark plugs, but that's what is said at NGK website....

That'd do it.

RockAuto sells the platinums for 11.09 a plug, but you have to buy it in packs of four. You could order 12 for your next switch out - looks like there's no big difference in shipping cost between 6 and 12.

Or you can order the coppers and change them at 30K instead of 60. Depends on what your time is worth to you.

Sorry if this is off-topic but why aren't more people running the NGK Iridium plugs?

I've never really seen the point for Iridium plugs. My understanding is that they're considered colder and are better in applications like nitrous. I could be wrong on that.

Again, not to go off topic, but what I've learned (which very well may be incorrect, it WAS a representative of NGK but just because they work there doesn't mean they're the best source always) is that the platinum's last longer than a copper plug, while a copper plug burns better. The iridiums have a burn the same as a copper plug but last as long as the platinums. I have iridiums in mine, after I tried platinums, and I didn't feel a huge difference but it felt like the engine was smoother. This isn't a scientific way, I realize, but just my experience. I'm new to the import scene, while I've been doing domestic motors for quite awhile, I never used platinums in any of my race motors, turbo, sc, or NA, they just didn't have the spark of the coppers. Maybe I should try the Iridiums. sorry for the slight shift from the original topic, just didn't feel this deserved another seperate thread.
