My sister has a Mazda MX-6 and I installed the deck on her car and soon found out that the radio is (+) grounded and I had to install a converter to pick up any radio stations. I was wondering if Maximas are the same way?

nope

pretty sure Nissans use a negative ground. there's a red +12V power lead, yellow memory, orange illumination, and black ground. This is the same setup I had in my '90 RX7, I wonder if Mazda changed something when they started making the MX's?
