Poll:.org What is the best Gen-4 Maxima year, in your opinion?

Best in terms of overall running, least amount of problems with good and easy to find parts at good prices.

99s have bad coils and have more complicated emissions, things like ECU harder to get etc....Cali Spec as well............

I say '97 or '98, but 95 GXE for teh lightweight.

1995.
The 99s have coil pack issues, and immbolizers (expesnive)

And I think the grill on the 95/96 looks the best.

99's have the amb button so that makes it that much cooler. By 1999 They probably beat out most the flaws, and in my opinion 97-99 looks the best...1999 would most likely be the eaisest to get parts for to because its the newest...i have a 99 and it has never had a coil pack or immbolizer problems.... Speaking of problems dont the sunroofs for the 95 & 96 break eaisly or whatever??

In 99 they were getting the precursor for the 5th gen flaws. (SOME) coilpacks, immobolizer.

You have service records that tell everything that has been performed? Isn't this the car that has painted control arms? Do you know why those were dropped? Did you ever find out if it was in an accident or whatever?

It was in a minor un reported crash, impact was on the drivers side front, we actualy found the previous owner and asked them about the car, the first owner sold it "as is wrecked" the second owner repaired the car from the crash and then 30 days later sold it to a dealer, then i got it.... The previous owner who was about in his mid 20's sounded like painted all the controll arms and calipers blue, thats the only "mod" thats even been done, also dont forget my sel has a chrome grille because of the wreck but i dont really mind it.

95...b/c nissan quality got crappier after that...for example, my friends 98 has alot less miles than my 95 and it has a lot more problems....also, the whole 99 coilpack thing and how everything after 95 has more emissions crap.

I have a 97 and haven't hade a problem with it yet so It is the best year of the 4th gen to me... I don't like the 95-96, because the front grill looks strange , and the back taillight is to big.

my 99 has never had a coilpack or immobilizer issue, not to say that they don't exist, but the last year of every gen. is usually the most highly evolved, however i am partial. i would'nt rather have anything older unless it has crazy low miles and even then only a 98.

123k, properly warmed up
properly maintained
driven gently on poorly surfaced streets
flogged on smooth ones

honestly not because I own it.. but '98 you dont have the more common problems of the '99 yet its still the newest prior to that and plus you get the new steering wheel design (which personally I love most out of any year, 99 has the same one I believe) and like a few other things that elude me. I have yet to see a problem other that routine service.

I have a 97 and had a 92, I heard the earlier ones (95-97)are better because they were made in Japan. Don't if that is true or not. I have never had a problem with either of them.
