squeaking in left front... ideas?

Good evening boys and happy 4th. I have a squeaking coming from the left front of my car. It's got to be suspension related because I hear it all the time if the road isn't perfectly smooth. It's loud enough for me to hear with the windows up and A/C on. The suspension is 1 year old and are Illuminas and Tein H-Techs. I also replaced strut bearings and all appropriate parts when doing the suspension install. I put the car up on my ramps and siliconed all suspension parts to get no satisfaction from this squeak. I also can make it squeak with the car parked and standing on the outside and moving the car from side to side. Any ideas of parts to grease or whatever would be appreciated. Thanks again

Remove and check the front sway bar bushings. I'm talking about the ones that surround the bar and bolt in near the steering rack.

Xlr8r has a 'front end rebuild' thread going on that has pics of these bushings when the get rubbed thru.

Thanks, I will read that thread. The other article doesn't apply to my car, since it's a 99. Sway bar bushings , huh? Hmmm. Any other ideas?

Check your bushings, end link and sway bar. The End links can be bought on Ebay for $25 or from Nissan for $43.

I'm having the same problem with squeaking. I just recently installed Tein H-techs and KYB AGX's, which seem to have heightened the problem. I have about 140k miles on the car, and i'm sure some of the bushings must be shot by now.

99SEL4ME, let me know if you make any progress with the noise!

Sway bars bushings are in the back, right?
the front suspensions is pretty simple, maybe time for some exploratory surgery 5 bolts and a Clip get the strut/spring off, if the springs get really rusty they will squeak like a **** yo

Both front and rear passenger side spring/strut assemblies are squeaking on my car, and I only put the new suspension on 2 weeks ago...there's not even any dirt on them let alone any rust. And I'd bet there's not much rust, if any, on 99SEL4ME's suspension either.

Yeah, I'm going to see my Nissan Tech on Saturday and he is going to find the squeak and fix it!! Before it drives me to drink!! I will post the solution when it's found.
Thanks for all your input. BTW, my car has 134k on it but suspension, springs and bearings are all new 1 year ago.

Swaybar links can squeek. Both sides will cost you about $60 unless you have someone do it for you then skies the limit.

well...it's definitely the swaybar endlinks causing the squeak in my car. the bushing is almost completely gone. If i pushed up and down on the hood it would squeak just from that. I soaked it with some wd40 and it went away for a good while.

Might wanna try that to see if that is the problem. Good luck with it man.

Thanks. I know its loud from the outside, because people walking on the sidewalk, mainly teenagers, will turn their heads before I pass them! And it's not my POS stock Bose stereo turning their heads either.....lol. New sway bar bushings..... here I come!!!

END LINKS or SWAYBAR LINKS will squeek mostly, not the sway bar bushings. They are usually quiet. The Swaybar Links are metal on metal and when the grease inside washes away they squeek. This part is basically a metal ball inside a metalic part that is tight enough to hold it to keep the ball from disconnecting. And for some reason they are not greasable. They should be because they would last forever.

The ball is sealed on the end of the top threaded bolt---

I've had the opposite experience. The swaybar bushings under the brackets can wear thru and allow metal-metal contact between the bar and bracket. You won't see it until you remove the bushing and see the cut.

Ha ha!

Also it is a good idea to get the sway bar bushings while you're at it. $10?

I think you can find them online for about $30 - $40
At the dealer all the stuff will run you $70-$80.

Heres the thread where someone bought them cheap somewhere...

It' might be best to replace these first since they are cheap and easier than the actual links. I put these off when I did my links, I'll be picking some up at napa or somewhere soon.

Okay, here's the verdict. Today, I got replaced both sway bar links and the squeak is gone!! Also, I got 2 oxygen sensors, bank one and bank two with Nissan sensors. Parts and labor $500. Does that sound like too much to anyone? each o2 sensor was $140. from Nissan. And the sway bar links were $100. Sound a little on the high side to me.....

I can see the o2 sensors being high from Nissan, but 2 swaybar links for $100 ? And they're not Nissan. I think my " friend" made a mistake. Nissan links aren't even that much, they're like $20. I thought my a$$ hurt a little today.....

i went to the dealer 2 days ago and the links and bushings were $48 per side...but I would say that is high since they aren't Nissan. O2 sensors vary depending on the car, so I would guess they are right on.

...atleast they're not O2 sensors for a Honda Prelude....$300 a piece from Napa!!!

Yeah, I don't argue the o2 sensors, since they are Nissan and it's a California spec. The swaybar links at $50. a side and non-Nissan, that's bull$hit!!!
