Spark Plugs for the Maxima

I tried to search, but I couldn't find the information I'm looking for. What part number are the platinum NGK plugs that I should get? I called the dealer and this is the part number they gave me: PFR5G-11. If these are the correct plugs, can someone tell me where the cheapest place to get them is? I have been told as high as $17..........EACH!

How many sets have you bought?

I'm still running my original spark plugs @ 64K and would be on my 3rd or 4th set of coppers by now, given they don't last as long and copper oxidizes more.

I get 30 mpg on the highway.

I know someone with 90K on his original platinum plugs (99 Maxima) and he has no intention of replacing them anytime soon.

But @ $12/set.. I don't mind changing them, it's fun and you get to see the condition your engine is running in. I've changed them @ intervals ranging from 40k, 20k, 30k, and no difference.

Don't get platinums, go a ebay and buy Iridiums. They last longer, give a better spark, and cost less. No reason why you should have to use platinums. BTW, the cheapest price for OEM plats are no less than $11 apeice.

Hey glenmoormax,
Why 2 steps colder? I run the 6935. How many miles do you get with your coppers?

Just give the dealer the part number for coppers (NGK V-Power BKR5E-11) and tell them you want 6 of them (if you tell them its for a Max then some dealers might keep pushing to buy the plats instead since our cars came with plats and not copper)

Bosch for some people they run fine and for some they dont, but why bother wasting time with those when NGK are better for our engines?

Cu or Pt?

IMO, Pt 60k, Cu 30k... Some people leave the Pt's in there for 100-105k, and I've left my Cu's in for 45k...
