headers + y-pipe install, tips and prices, etc

if i can i want to install the headers i got and the y-pipe myself(with some help from some car people)

the headers look like they will be a HUGE pain to install though...

so the question is, are there any tricks to make the install easier?
and if i take it to a shop and have them install the parts how much should i expect to pay?

Get some of the rear header bolts from the top. Might have to remove IM.

my friend agrees, and now 2 votes here. looks like the IM is commin off!

should i be concerned about some minor surface rust on the headers and y?

soak the bolts with something to loosen them such as WD-40, etc. the y-pipe is cake to get off, but the headers are a lil bit of a pain. just be careful and dont try to rush into it and you'll be fine, make sure u remember where everything goes if u take the IM off!!

sounds like its not too crazy hard. im part of a local car club so theres plenty of car people who could help me out who know far more than me.

and yes, they are the XS power headers. not sure the brand on the Y, might be XS power too? bought it in the classifieds here.

If the headers are a different brand than the Y... you will probably run into problems...

No you wont. Those headers are stock replacements. You can use those headers with stock y-pipe, warpspeed, buget, xsperformance.
