starting on 2nd gear

Hi.
My first gear is out, it jumps out when i want to move forward. So from complete stop i have to start at 2nd gear. Im just wondering for how long i can do that. Dont have a time take my car to shop.
How about clutch?? Will it die faster??

Some automatic vehicles actually have this as an 'option' in low traction situations.

If you don't have time to take the car to a shop, get rid of it because you don't have time to be a car owner.

It will last quite a while, if you're halfway good at using the clutch and you aren't starting on uphills. Bad drivers can burn up a clutch using 1st gear faster than a good driver starting in 2nd. But that's not saying too much.

if your really good, it shudnt make that much of a difference, the car has plenty of power in 2nd.

when it snows 1st gear is absolutely useless in my car... wayy to much power wayy to low

you can do it for as long as your 2nd is still operational... but once the 2nd is out - then you'll have to tow it to the shop... Since your 1st is out I would suggest to at least drain transmission and check oil for metal - more likely you have a magnetic plug - smaller pieces will be sticking to it and larger (like broken off gear tooths tips) will be in the oil.
