Transmission BLEW UP today! Why, oh why?

Well, you're all correct...it was the left front axle...the power axle, of course (wish I had some kind of traction control).

I took a look under my car today and saw it flopping around.

I had no warning that it was going bad. The boot did not have any tears in it, and I never heard any noise, like clicking.

Do these tend to go like that???

I have a auto tranny sitting in my garage if you need it. I'd be willing to part with it for a very minor amount of money.

dont let them tell you its your transmission, cuz most likely it is not like every one else is saying, it kinda sounds like a cv joint, or somethign related to the front axle that went out one you. About 3-4 months ago something similar happened to my sisters car...it simply wouldnt go into gear, and when she called up a transmission center, they told her that she needed a new transmission....turned out all she needed was a good tranny flush, and so far so good, but they were that close to doing a 1500 dollar trans job when she didnt even need it...freakin a-holes.

Correct.

I took a look under my car.

Funny thing is I had absolutely no warning that it would fail...like no clicking noises or anything.

And...even better news is that the axle was still under warranty, so NO CHARGE for the replacement!!

Yay!

Postscript:

I know that guys often think of their cars as living entities by giving them female names and talking to them as if they were women. If they don't give them names, then, at the very least they will use feminine pronouns like "she" or "her."

Anyway, I did not get to drive my repaired car until yesterday which means that I had been without it for five days. I know it sounds stupid, but I swear my car missed me and was happy to see me. :-)

Did it feel as if you were low on powersteering fluid when the car was cold?? I mean, when you turned the wheel did it feel like the wheel was "skipping"?? That is the only sign i had when mine went bad.....
