uhh WTF just happened? pulley flew off *pics*

I was accelerating from a parking lot, took it to about 4k in 1st, i heard some noise and it was like something was falling off my car, and it was....pulled over, and i find the pulley laying next to my car....wtf??

It seems like only a part of the pulley actually came off, the ring that the belt goes on to.

Time to upgrade to a UDP?
Can somebody tell me what happened, how i can fix it, where i can buy the part, and if i can do this at home.

That's fckin crazy man. Looks like the crank pulley. So you can get a UDP if you want.

Looks like the rubber ring disintegrated and the outer part of the pulley detached.

You don't need to get a UDP. Either grab an OEM pulley or just get an Unorthodox Racing Ultra Sc pulley, which is lighter than stock but has the stock diameter.

As far as the operation itself goes, the toughest part is getting the center bolt out and torquing it back to spec afterwards. If you have a good impact gun, you'll be fine.

I have an OEM pulley I could overnight to you on Monday if you PayPal me. PM me if you want it...

My motor has 89k miles, so its nothing...i have a shorter belt because my A/C pulley is jammed, so i just have a shorter belt...im wondering if that had something to do with it?

The rubber isolation ring will deteriorate(sp?) over time, especially if you use harsh chemicals to clean your enigne. My buddies 98 I30 did the same thing.

Then maybe i should get a UDP because it looks to be just a solid peice? Anybody have any kind of troubles when using the Motostorm UDP? It seems to be the cheapest, and their shop is in my state so overnight shipping would probably be cheaper too...

Mine's cracked too. I posted about it awhile back:

I'm worried now. Next oil change I'll inspect again. I've got 180k miles right now.

My friends Max had the same problem, at first he didn't realize it, every time he started his car, the accessory belt would shift towards the engine and rub against the engine parts. we lifted the car up and found the same problem; we changed it right away. good luck.

I had the same problem. I also thought "did something just fall off of my car?"

OEM pulley should do it.
