would I need a LSD driver side axle for

my vitek/stillen LSD... Pics of it are at the bottom of my cardomain. I am thinking of installing it here soon and wondered if my stock axle would work. it appears to be a beefed up stock LSD so im wondering if Id need the lsd axle.

If it was an open diff to begin with then no your stock axles are fine. All US Maximas are open diff, so I bet its an open diff. Its also not a VLSD like stock, its a friction style that pushes on the spider gears with springs. But to be save, look inside to see if there are two separate splines for the drivers side. If there are two then you need an LSD axle.

No, stillen/vitek and Phantom Grip do not require LSD axles. You'll like it, and save $$$ compared to Quaife (if you can find one). There are rumors floating around this forum about quality control, or wearing of parts, but no-one has solid evidence for our cars. I like it.

thanks for the info, I bought this LSD shipped for 300 on ebay about a year ago, i looked into the quaife and i have found a few but they sell for over a grand still, i don' t think i will miss it that much. if it really provides a 7-900 dollar difference in performance then i might consider one but until then i can' twait to install my stillen one.

JSutter, i have a question real quick about your 5th gen PP... I am ordering a new clutch (stage 3) and fly wheel, should i go ahead and order the 5th gen ones? I am thinking of going with spec and fidanza.... Just wondering what your thoughts are.

Isnt stage 3 the same for all 3.0l's? If not and the 5th gen stuff is higher clamping force and you need it, then go for it.

okay i did about 2 hours of researching on clutches etc lol since i obviously was in the dark, I am guessing that if I was planning on staying n/a i would upgrade to a (brand) stage 1 or the other option in the 5th gen OEM. I am gonna go with the spec stage 2 for now and the fidanza FW...
