Does the brake light come on when you turn the key to the "on" position during the bulb check?

mine does teh same thing however i know the e-brake is working fine, its easy to check if the e-brake is working or not, stop the car, put it in drive dont hit the gas but pull the e-brake if the car doesnt creep forword the brake is on. i have an auto tho.

Hmm I just tested that..When I pull the ebrake while its in drive it does creep forward but a lot slower than when its not. When I put it in reverse it moved back even slower. Is it just starting to go or something?? But even if it worked a little wouldnt that still signal the light to go on?? Mines also an auto.

take out your cupholder and look at the e brake assembly, there should be a connector that connects to the ebrake. there was an easier way to test it too, if you park on a hill or a slope does it hold the car? if it does then your e brake is working correctly

thete is a nittle black stick like thing the size of an Orbits gum that is placed head fist into the metal part of the ebrake handle near the part that attaches to the chasis...

it has a wire comming into it..
it works with a spring and another little fragile piece that finishes a ground circuit... this will engage the lgiht...

common porblem is that little black thing... tha part that attached to the metal part of hte ebrake breaks off... and then the light doesnt work.. i had this prob i was at a junk yard and the guy let me havet he thing for free cuase he didnt even know what it was...

i could take pics but battery is DEAD... PM me if you have interst and i will tkae pics ... but if you unbutton the ebrake boot... then you should see it dangeling (ps. removing cupholder helps you see that better..
