Why can't i chirp second?

Why can't i chirp second? that is not my objective, but when i shift fast and more aggressivly my clutch always slips. I have a pretty new OEM cluth, maybe 5000 miles on it, and i replaced my master and slave clylinders........i am just tired of my clutch performing like crap.

any pointers in making it better?

Flywheel resurfaced? Clutch broken in correctly?

The wieght and size of the wheels doesn't help, but they shouldn't cause it to slip.

Sounds like it's working just fine.

You could always put on crappier tires. Most people who brag about how their monster car can chirp in 3rd are too ignorant to realize it's because they have no grip.

Well either way its not supposed to slip, so my questions are
A) Is it OEM or Key Value?
B) Who installed it?
C) Was the flywheel and PP cleaned with brake cleaner?
D) Does your rear main seal leak?
E) When was it installed?

why can't you chirp?

-slipping clutch (you said it yourself)

-heavy wheels

-good tires (anybody can chrip with bald tires even with <100 hp)

-good shifting/rev matching (bad shifting will result in chirping if it takes you an hour and a half to put the car in the next gear it will chirp because the wheels will be slowing down)

-chriping is gay

1. it is OEM no the key value(i specifically told the dealer not to give me that one)

2. a shop down street, that i go to alot and so far has done very good work. (not saying they did the clutch correct)

3. i did not do the install, so i do not know if it was cleaned with brake cleaner, but it was machined, and PP was new.

4. That i do not know

5. about 2 months ago. I have been driving very conservitive, and today acually the first time i drove pretty aggressive

Its your wheels. I can always chirp 2nd with my 15s with marginal rubber on. With my rays gram lights 17s I only get the chirp every now and then (and even then its just a little chirp) and having ultra sticky yokohama avs rubber doesn't help either. Remember, like Dave said, chirping means you have no grip.

Your clutch should not be slipping though. Thats something else. You should just slam right into gear.

Please be more specific then about this. If you dump the clutch with the RPMs too high, and keep the rpms way high, the clutch won't be able to catch. To maximize the 'chirp' factor, you need to shift at an RPM point high enough to have plenty of torque, but rev match close enough to let it grab.

As well - remember it's summer and your tires are much grippier than they were in cooler temps. If the last time you shifted full throttle was in winter, you will see different results.

guys chirping means you cant shift better than your grandma shiftin a mack truck.

when your rowin gears like a slave on a pirate ship (fast and brutal) there sould be NO chirp if you really know what your doing. plus look at the size of those rims they are quite big.

next issue NO it shouldnt slip if it does somethings a miss....

check flywheel and pressure plate for proper cleanliness trust me it makes a difference.

i should not of put chirp in the title or anything cause that is not my point. i just said that to get the point across that my clutch slips so doing that is impossiable, i do not try to chirp, and it is not what i am trying to do....

so 19 cause my clutch to slip?

okay well i will break it open and see if everything is clean

If you have a clutch slip problem, it should appear when you go full throttle in 5th gear. Does yours do this?

Also please get to the question of describing this so-called clutch slip in more detail.

FWIW, 19s make your car slow. It will affect if you can chirp your wheels, but it will NOT affect the clutch slipping.

its a clutch issue, not a power issue. i can chirp second with a bad knock sensor sitting on my 19s. make sure its clean, and the PP bolts are torqued down correctly, in the correct sequence.

no it does not slip in 5th, the clutch is pretty new.....it is just when i shift from 1st to second.....

detail....... i drive, i get the car up to around 5500, and i press the clutch....shift into second....then i release quickly, and the clutch slips for about 2 seconds.

the car pulls very well, the knock sensor has 10,000 miles on it and i run 93, so it should not be the knock sesnors and i tourqued it down correctly.

it is a clutch issue, it has nothing to do with wheels cause i can't do it with my stockies either.....

Mine does the same thing. I can burn the tires off going into first, but going into second there is a delay. I have a new Exedy clutch, but I don't know if I broke it in correctly.
