Rear Brake Pad Wear indicator??
i swapped out my rear pads today and one thing i forgot are the wear indicator shims attached to the backs of the pads. do i need to put those back in or could i leave em out and just pay close attention to the pad life? i just dont want to take everything apart again... also, does it serve anyother purpose besides that?

I would put them back in. Strange thing is, I don't think I've ever separated them from the pad assembly.
The time you take examining your brakes every so often could be spent one time taking them apart and adding the indicator and not worrying so much.
The innermost rear pad is ahrd to examine if you have stock wheels.

Yeah, Mr****s95SE, I think you meant the brake pad shims, not the wear indicator. The wear indicator is built into the pad itself. The whole purpose of the brake pad shims is to minimize the "brake squeal" caused by metal-to-metal contact between the caliper and the brake pad. If you leave these shims out, it's not a problem unless you have the squealing noise. Just use some anti-squealing compound on the back of the pads and you'll be fine. I changed my pads plenty of times and left out the shims and never had a squealing noise.
