poll: at what RPMs do you shift

I got an automatic but i always baby my car when its warm but has not been on long so i keep it around 2000, on normal operation i go no higher than 3500. But sometimes theres no traffic going onto the on ramp and im doing 5700ish but thats not often.

I guess i'll contribute even though its no difference. I shift at about 2500, but to be honest, who cares. Drive how you want to, i cant tell you how many people tell me you have to shift at 3k. BS, it really doesnt matter where you shift, just understand that higher shift = more wear, more heat, more gas. Only time i go to 4500 is on the on ramp to the highway, and even then i get to my speed and then i go straight to 5th.

I have a 96 I-30T 5spd with VSLD. It also has POP, y-pipe, High flow cat and B-pipe/w high flow muffler. When driving for performace I usually shift at roughly 5,900 for best performance. Exept for on first and second because of the low ratios. All the dynos I've seen show horespower drops dramatically after 5,500. I've drove my friends I-30 with the MEVI, and in it you shift at redline with full power. It is great!!!

Well my autotragic shifts for me and it shifts at 1400 rpm even if i floor it...LOL. If u don't believe, then check this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmgNYrPIgls Actually my tach doesnt work well so I don't even know at what rpm it shifts!!!

I don't bother shifting over 4500 or so RPMs. I had a '97 4cyl Accord EX (VTEC) 5 spd manual before this car. that car, you had to "drive it like you stole it" b/c the Variable Timing BS would open up more lifters for more air once you hit a high enough RPM to engage the VTEC.
But with no Variable Timing package on the V6 3000 maxima engine, I don't get the same "feel" of the VTEC accord. Not gonna say that the Accord was "faster", but the relative feel of the VTEC at higher RPMs definately made the car "feel" faster than the Maxima at higher RPMs.
Consequently, I'm not tempted to push the Max over 4000 RPMs. Just feels like i'm not gaining anything over that point.
I will also say that I'm in the middle of trying to rid the car of Check Engine codes. I was getting Knock Sensor and both front 02 sensors were bad. I replaced the front 02 sensors with new (used) sensors. I also put in a new (used) knock sensor that tested perfectly (550KOhms or something?) and now the car does seem to have more ***** under 3k rpms. But the Knock Sensor code is still popping up after 35 miles as well as the Rear 02 sensor now. So i'm gonna fill up with Premium Octane gas next time and change the rear 02 Sensor (the easier one) and see if I have any change of heart.

A Maxima feels right being shifted at 2500-3000 rpm in traffic.
I hate drivers who shift early enough to have the car buck a couple of times on every upshift.
I don't have enough info on the Maxima, but my other car has an auto with "sport mode" that delays upshifts 5-600 rpm. On that car, it makes absolutely no difference to mileage.

I like redline alot.....
Otherwise there are to many variables to estimate where I shift as it is dependant upon traffic. Also more over my cluthes current state says it hates shifting period.....5th gen on the way.

Used to shift at around 2k until my roommate started complaining that I was shifting into 5th at 20mph (what an idiot). Ever since been shifting around 3k because it just feels better. Supreme gas is a &^*%$ for a poor college student like myself though.
