Just use a couple of nuts on each master cylinder stud to recreate the spacer. Thats what I did.

i don't like nos. id rather have pure power. turbo lag sucks as much as nos imo. and fyi learning stick is not hard. once you get the concept of getting it out of first gear your basically good to go, i think thats the hardest part of learning stick.

1/2 inch... maybe 3/4 inch... its been over a year since I was last in there. It by no means has to be exact.

Like I said, I used 2 nuts on each master cylider stud and it worked just fine.

hey, sorry to interrupt the thread, but I'm a noobie on the site and i can't create my own thread yet. I just "finished" the auto to 5spd swap but I'm having a major problem. The car turns over but won't actually fire up/start. Any suggestions on something I may have done wrong or things I should check?...thanks

i'm not posting "just to get 20"...i don't understand how I just joined the board and I'm already getting flamed just because its my first post? And yes, I followed the instructions in the how to thread in the sticky section. Everything mechanical seems to be working fine. Like I said, the car turns over but does not crank. Checked all the fuses already and verified the spark plugs are getting power. Any suggestions on what else could be keeping the car from cranking?...also I replaced my battery today...thanks for the help, I've done too much work for the conversion and come to far for this to happen!!! Please Help!!

Yes but did you put the timing ring (thin gold ring with little teeth) on the flywheel?

apparently you made the spacer, if you can, can you get the dimension of that thing, so that I can maybe recreate it? If not I'll pay you to make it for me.

It's 1/2" thick. I bought it off another orger. Just use nuts or spacers, they'll work just as well. It's not that hard to make one of these plates either. Take a diagram to a CNC shop and have them make it.

jaymax69 - What was the hardest part of the conversion for you? Besides the problems you are having now. What did you have trouble with while swapping transmissions?

Thanks!

How are you "saving" him form being flamed? He didnt do anything to be flamed for, he asked a simple question, your just being an @ss.

jaymax69: Is your crank position sensor on the tranny plugged in? Is it bolted down securely? When my friend replaced his clutch he didnt bolt in his CPS all the way and his car wouldnt fire.

Fing sweet...I'm sure you'll be happy with it. I was hoping I would actually get to some CT Maxima meets this summer...but I didn't see any come up. Oh well, hopefully I'll still have my Maxima next year to get to at least ONE before I sell her. Good luck, keep us posted, I'm sure the project will be fun.

The inhibitor switch (P/N) would keep it from cranking period, but his does.

He is asking a question regarding his 5 speed conversion IN a thread devoted to collecting information about doing a 5 speed conversion...seems like the perfect place for his question. And, seeing as how the answeres to his question will benefit the thread starter, that meens he is indirectly contributing to the OP's search for information. But what ever, if you think that deserves a flaming, good for you.

i never said he deserves a flaming. i DONT like seeing newbies getting flamed, which is why i said what i said. giving him possible solutions before some ******* comes in here and drops the hammer on him. FOR BEING A NEWBIE. ive been around this place long enough to know what happens to the new members when they ask questions in someonelses thread after only 1 or 2 post on their counter.

but at any rate i hope the swap goes smoothly for all involved.
