need help, simple just need to know...
Story: So I'm driving home on 280 from work and a BMW in front of me drives over an oddly shaped piece of metal. I aim to drive over it too and it should have just cleared. I hit it, but not on the front, but the back right tire?! Of course, i didnt know this until I got out and checked around to see what, if any damage there was. I dont get how the front tire misses it and then the back hits it when im going straight... anyways, so i get a flat, i put on my spare and drive home. i go to take off the spare, and lo-n-behold, two of the screws break off. Ya know, the ones the the lugs go on to.
Problem/Question: How much is it gonna cost me to take it into a shop and have them replace those 2 screws? or what tools do I need to do it? if anyone has a link, i certainly dont mind reading.
thx!

Hmm..maybe one of the plastic engine guards under your car is loose and knocked the metal piece over when you drove over it.
Changing the wheel studs is fairly easy and can be DIY or you can pay a shop to do it for like $20 each or so.
- Get new studs from auto parts store $2-3 each
- Get some big thick washers from hardware store to use as spacers
- Take off wheel
- Remove brake caliper, if necessary
- Hammer out the old broken studs
- Place new ones in from the back as far as possible
- Put a few washers over each stud
- Put on lug nuts and tighten until the studs get pulled into place and are flush in the back.
- Remove lugs and washers
- Put wheel back on
Hope I didn't miss a step somewhere. It's been a long time. Good luck.
