Well your getting power so its not the battery, its actually cranking so parts are moving and trying to turn over. I feel its either fuel related or Starter related. More than likely it probably the starter.

Take it out and have it tested at a local auto store. The greese is probably drying up and its taking longer to crank. When my starters were going bad it would take a while to crank, sometimes a 5 mins. When it eventually starts up I get a cloud of black smoke.

I had that problem in my 96. I replaced the ECT sensor and it stopped. The ECT signal acts like a choke when the engine is cold, that is it richens the mixture by increasing the injector pulse duration until warm.

also head gasket is a possibility, especially if there is smoke coming out when it starts, if the gasket is leaking to where enough antifreeze gets in the cylinders then it can cause sporadic hard starting, also could shut off if it was bad enough. i don't think that starter is prob if it sounds/feels normal.

also there is a hose on the intake that goes to the throttle body if it is cracked it could cause that, but not real likely.
