I had my current car for a week, and I had just left my house about ten minutes before, when I get a call from my mom, All I heard was, "how far are you? Can you come back I think dads going to need to go to the hospital" then my phone cut out. I was approaching a redlight on an undivided single lane highway. There were about three cars in front of me, and there was cars waiting across the intersection to, but I stil got in the right turn only lane and sure enough there was no cars coming either way on the side street, as the light was just about turning green I romped it and busted a HIGHLY illegal u-turn, I can still remember seeing everybody stare at me while I grabbed second beside them. I made it home in about 3 minutes, I passed alot of cars on the right doing 75mph down rt. 44, then got to the backroads, when I was about 2 minutes from my house (normally 7-8) I was taking off real hard (By real hard I mean WOT from 0-80 hitting redline in every gear) and my car started running out of gas and stuttering. even to this day I haven't spanked on my car that hard, except once for about 1 minute when I was being chased by somebody. Anyways, when I got home I find out that my dad wasn't having a heart attack, I had totally convinced myself that's what it was, he broke his wrist and he already left with someone else. So I'm like, what the hell, I might as well go back out and cruise in my new car and finish that joint. Totally forgot about getting gas of course, I also learned a weird quirk to my new car. apparantly the gas light comes on at about 1/8th level and stays on until the needle gets real close to the bottom line, BUT THEN, it hops back up to an 1/8th again and the light goes off and stays off even when you run out of gas. I put alot of miles and played the "just how far can this thing go with the light on" game in my our 99 i30 and the gauge doesn't do what mine does.

honestly if ur dumb enough to let ur car run on low, then its ur fault for getting stuck. U don't nessesarily have to fill it up to the brim everytime. so gas prices being $60 shouldn't be an excuse because $10 will get u places just as fine.
