I'll do it for $30 bucks. Just supply the starter.

do it yourself. you literally remove two bolts, take out the old starter, put the new one in, and replace the two bolts. you will save yourself probably $100 in labor. The starter itself will cost you between $130 and $175.
This is how you remove it: http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/516

It's sooo easy to do your self. Remember to disconnect the battery and get a long breaker bar for that bigger bolt. IT's probably about 4 inches long and a real mudderfcuker to get out.

Yes, it's pretty easy to DIY.

Remember to hear what SMax said.
1) Disconnect battery (the neg. terminal)
2) Get a wrench long enough or a cheating pipe. The long bolt is really a m*****f*****.

GOOD LUCK

you'll need to remove the intake if you have the stock intake still. It would be very much in your way. Aftermarkets I'm not sure you probably can get your hands and tools in between there to get the bolt off. 1st bolt close to you is 14mm, 2nd bolt is 17mm. With a 2'-3' brake bar, the bolt will be very easy. even with a normal length ratchet you can get it, but be prepaired to put a lot of force on the end of that ratchet.

Yea that 17mm bolt is a big MUTHERPOURONLKSFN34w)($&*#()OPF. I had to use like a makeshift 3 foot bar.

Yeah, removing air duct is another fun part, especially for the stock ones. You will need to disconnect couple of sensors (MAF & intake air temp, I think) and the L-shape air guiding pipe.

In the mean time, you can also do
1) Clean the throttle body.
2) Clean the MAF sensor.

I forgot to mention, before you go about replacing the starter, what exactly are your symptoms? it's also possible that your ignition switch has died. do you at least get a click from under the hood when you try to start it? If you hold the key in the start position for a few seconds, and or shake it around a little, does the car start? If this is what you're experiencing, then your problem is probably your ignition switch, which is a lot cheaper, about $30. If you're getting a click or any noise from under the hood when you try to start, then it's more likely that your switch is good and your starter has gone bad. Either way, both repairs are very easy.

test the starter

It's easy to take out/install the maxima starter. Get a free test...virtually every part store will do it for you free of charge. I'm sure you know your battery is fine right?

Ignition switch is usually the culprit if the starter is good.

the relay is the last you should check because it rarely go bad. Good thing it's cheap.
