if im going to keep my 96 rear, i want new tails.
it all comes down to whether i want the tails or not.
bc honestly i rather have the 97-99 tails.
well let me know what you think. honestly, i think both options are semi-ricey. but theyre not like straight out altezzas or too flashy. also option 2 is cheaper too. us 95/96 guys dont have too many options, but i think anything is better than the oem look.

IMO, the altezzas are the ugliest lights you can get for the max. If anything i'd say definately go with the red/clears.

Go with the red clears. They don't look much different then the painted ones people do. these 97-99 guys have lots of coments on these lights because they don't have our problem. i have them and like them alot and they don't look ricey at all, trust me i live in one of the capitols of rice(Philly) and these aren't even close to rice and besides these are one of our only options. Definitely stay away from the altezza's.

Either get the red/clears or tint the stock tails black. You have a black car right? Tinting them black will look good in my opinion. I tinted my tails with VHT Nightshades. I have a dark color max and love the tails.

yea i was gonna do this, especially because you save mucho dinero $$. but i heard its illegal and you can get pulled over. im not sure about this but i dont need to give the po po another reason to pull my as$ over. if anyone knows the exact rule/law on tinting your tails (im in NJ) pls post.

I love the way everybody thinks everything looks like rice. So here is a normal opinion. I liked the way the black altezzas looked and bought some. They look real good on a dark car because all you notice is the colored lenses. Also the lenses have a nice red glow to them when they are on. I also liked the clear/reds but did not want to spend the money. If you don't like the way the stock ones look, than you can't go wrong with both of these. I would not recommend the chrome altezzas if you have a dark car because they have too much bling factor, unless you like that. I seen them on a dark car and like the black ones more. If you need some pictures let me know. I will have to wash it first but it is a dark evergreen 96. The fitment was pretty good but the lights on the trunk lid could have been a little more flush in one of the corners.

get the clear/red ones and lightly tint the clear part. It will look amazing!!!! Thats what i did

it is possible to smoke them instead of making them black or to dark. All you have to do is a light coat of Black.This will give you the smoke looked and you will still have all lights visible. Trust me I'VE done it and the came out just like the CE smoked tails. But i do have a 97 so its reversed for you ie, smoked on top.

I also am a fan of the Altezzas but i like the Gen 2 cause they have the leds which look so cool.And yes if you have dark then carbon fiber or black housing is the way to go.

Can someone post a pic of the Altezzas, the different Gens? I'm just curious, or can you point to where they may already be on the forum?

That depends on the overall look that your trying to accomplish. If you've got clear turns in the front then go with clear/red in the rears. If you've got black clears in the front either VHT shade the clears/red or go with the black altezzas. But the option is yours. I personally have both the red/clears and altezzas with both clear turns and black housing clears with the matching headlights from CE. And from time to time just switch out.

^^^ Do you have a pic to share. I currently have altezza on mine. They don't pretrude like the LED ones do, I don't like those. My baby is black and the housing is black which imo blends nicely with the car. I have ordered the red clears, (I get bored easy) and cannot wait to see how they look compared to the altezzas I have on now. This is what I currently have.. I like them.

^^^well this thread is about 95-96 taill lights, which are different...id recommend buying the red/clears and baking them and taking them apart and night shading the inside, so you dont have to keep redoing it

Thank you. Respectfully, I did read the title of this thread. I was comparing thoughts and ideas with members who are willing to share, because I like the 95-96 red tails. I am aware I own a 97. I appreciate your recommendation, however, I never complained about redoing the lights. I did mention I get bored and I like having options.
