I need a new clutch... I think

Okay so I was driving home from work yesterday and my clutch started slipping really bad. not so much in first, but every other gear it is terrible. I got home and checked my clutch fluid, it was all the way out. i filled it up and hoped for the best. anyway, today it is still slipping just as bad. .i didnt notice any slipping really until yesterday night. any ideas on what it might be, or you think a new clutch is needed?? thanks guys.

just wondering sorry to hijack thread, when changing clutch, does the flywheel need to be re-surfaced? A mechanic said it'll cost 50 dollars to resurface the flywheel when adding a new clutch.

ya you should get it resurfaced.... but on my 3rd gen i cheaped out and just got a sanding disc on a cordless drill and "resurfaced" it myself, worked fine for me with no problems

It's best if a machine shop resurfaces the flywheel. Just to let you know when they will resurface it they can't take alot of meat off, also if they ask you have a 2 piece flywheel. Resurfacing the flywheel is the same concept as rotors, when changing pads but not rotors you always resurface them.

Would it be fine to just use 180 grit and sand it off a bit, or should I go for the 50 bucks to resurface.

let them resurface it. they will do it properly on a machine, and evenly take off only layers thats needed to make your flywheel smooth again.

you wouldnt want to have to pull the tranny and clutch again, re-re-surface they flywheel if unevenly surfaced the first time.

shop around and see if a shop can do it cheaper. I paid $35 to get my flywheel resurfaced.

if your fluid is all gone u may have a bad/leaker slave cylinder. that will cause you to slip even if you have a good clutch. check for a leak on the tranny.

Did you notice any fliud leaking? It is possible your slave cylinder is bad and not disengaging completly.
