Gauging Interest in a 3" exhaust from Cattman

I poured out so much information and pics, it's ridiculous..

Start at post #413, then read on....

Check out this awesome fitment on this 3" Oh, and FWIW, my 2.5" Cattman is only 1/4" further away from the trailing arm..still a problem. 3 Cattman catbacks, 3 problems.

Here are some pics from Me had Headers and Fastcat on then tossed back on the 3'' Exhaust and the **** was on the heatshield, before on other 03 Max wasnt that bad but didnt have Headers so now it pushed it more back.....All Cattman products from Headers-y-pipe Fastcat and 3'' Exhaust, still love this system but had to pay 40 bucks to a Muffler shop to Fix....

For the price you pay, it should be perfect. You shouldn't have to take it to an exhaust shop to be fixed. I would expect that from eBay for the cheap *** price that you pay but not Cattman.

We live and we learn, the guy had to cut about a 1/2'' off the B-pipe straight part, now no banging when I was at a light since got to install my ES MM inserts, that **** was just rattling like a mug...then next morning was the first one at Muffler shop...

I wouldnt ever try to install a cat-back myself. Things just don't line up most of the time and I don't have the right tools to make them line up. Im probably getting the OBX system and will try to install with my mechanic but im keeping some money in my budget to take it to a muffler shop and have them put it on. WIll probably have to have them do the rear headers anyways. Its a pain but its not a knock on Cattman as every system is just a little off......except Greddy of course but their systems are a rip more so than the Cattman system

I installed My Cattman headers, Cattman 3" catback and I had no trouble what so ever mine fit perfect.....I'm thinking maybe it's the fastcat threwing it off cause I'm running a WSP Metallic that's been installed for 9 yrs....But I do remember installing the Headers with the 2.5" Cattman catback and it pushed my catback was pushed back 1/2" more which I refabbed it building a jig for my 2.5" resonator to set in while a welder rewelded the flange back on that I setup for him....when I removed the 2.5" and installed the 3" catback the problem was gone, cause it fit perfect with a few sheild adjustments that's it....and of courde my catback limiter mod:

Did Schmellyfart have problem like yours? I was involved during the beginning.....You've tried every adjustment possible? THAT'S WEIRD THAT YOURS IS MOVING AROUND MINE IS PRETTY FREAKIN RIGID WHEN YOU TRY TOO MOVE IT!!!!! IF YOURS IS HITTING THE ARM THAT MEANS IT SLIDING INSIDE THAT SAME REAR INSOLATOR THAT I'VE SENT EVERYONE PICTURES OF ON HOW TO KEEP IT FROM SLIDING OR LIMITING IT'S MOVEMENT AND I DON'T SEE THAT MOD DONE TOO YOURS.....SO WTF ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT WHEN YOU HAVEN'T TRIED TO ADD TWO SMALL SHOCK BUSHING (1 ON THE TUBING HOOK, AND 1 ON THE CHASSIS HOOK)

Its not a hard install especially just the exhaust the headers yes it takes alot of time my mechanic wanted like 200 to 250 not bad but other areas don't know about yours but some places charge more labor than the parts, like WTF....

CMax03, I'm really tired of you questioning my install and troubleshooting abilities. I have tried everything under the sun. Even your idea after all my ranting and raving. Just because I didn't report it, doesn't mean I didn't try it. You also realize that your idea primarily restricts movement towards the drivers side of the car, more so than the passenger side; and passenger side movement is all I care about.

Pause for a second and use some common sense. Do you really think you make an exhaust system not move at all?? My exhaust is only 1/4" away from the trailing arm on my 99 Max and 1/8" on my 98 Max. My system is pretty damn rigid as it is, probably as rigid as your system. Every system is going to move a smidge. Are you telling me that your system is only 1/4" away from the trailing arm as well? I was under the impression that you had different banging issues (over the axle) and that's how you fixed it, no?

Not to mention, you're missing the big picture and whole point which ChrisMan287 touched on. None of this BS should have happened in the first place.

The exhaust tunnel(s) is huge, yet Cattman can't get a straight pipe down down the middle of it. Very disappointing. And don't forget that I offered to go back to the exhaust shop to have the prototype test fitted, yet Cattman said no because he had 100% confidence in his exhaust partner's work. Cattman was too eager and already counting his $$.

go greddy. Cattmans just dont fit right. Thats the consensus ive reached in my research for my exhaust mods. Ive also come to the conclusion that with our cars, the gains come from the y-pipe and headers. THats what ill be getting and OBX bc Cattman seems to not care much about customer service either

Especially more now than ever since Cattman is trying to sell his business.

Changed my mind too. I no longer support Cattman at all. I'll continue to enjoy my eBay exhaust parts.

I 'm sure it moves some mine isn't a f#%king rigid piece and it limits both left and right lateral movement for your info....if you need to have another isolator hook installed to limit it's movement or do some freakin cutting to center it you have the ampitude! My banging as I explained was the isolator hook rammig into the floor (downstream of the resonator) on R/H turn at high speed (High G's) only! I'll measure my clearance and pm or post it....It's close but not sure exactly!

You see. Your banging issues are very different than mine. One day I will have mine cut and recentered. I will then send the invoice(s) to Catboy and post it publicly here on the org.

To the guys with eBay catbacks, which one did you guys get? I'm only seeing 2.5 systems no 3" ones, and I have eBay catbacks on my 02 wrx and 99 eclipse gsx and both bolted up perfectly with no issues.

I got the cheapest one I could find. There aren't any 3" ones. The 3" talk is about the Cattman catbacks.

It fit perfect and sounds great. I'll be changing the muffler when I install my y-pipe though.

I just don't think the cannon will take the added sound and rasp of a y-pipe very well. The new muffler I have is resonated all the way through to the tip so it should sound nice.

I had banging on initial installation, only under hard rights.

Changed out some bushings, did the Cmax03 trick in one or two places, then viola, no more banging.

And I road course my maxima with what essentially amounts to slicks, I'm pretty sure I can pull as many lateral G's as anyone ever could with a maxima and I do not hear any banging.
