Difficulty of a tranny swap?
Im looking to swap 5spd transmissions with my friend who has a 96 and I was wondering how difficult this may be. Weve done everything from changing out exhaust, suspension (mannnny times), alternators, knock sensors, BBKs, and have a garage full of tools. We also want to swap out clutches and flywheels in the process. Has anyone done this that can give us some advice on the difficulty of this process? thanks

Simple, remove axles, shift linkage, electronics, the 3 14mm bolts at the bottom of the bellhousing, the 6(?) 17mm bolts around the bellhousing, starter, trans mount, pull it back and down at the same time to slide the input shaft out of the pressure plate. Remove pressure plate bolts, remove PP and clutch disc, then remove 8 flywheel bolts.
EDIT: I believe matts95max is right, it's 8 FW bolts.
Cdg2125 - that's actually for both trans, that's why I generalized. I only have done an auto on a max myself, the only difference is don't worry about pressure plate/clutch/flywheel, replace with torque converter and flexplate. TC bolts need to be removed before trans removal, bring TC down with it.
