Problems with New Tranny

Well I just installed a rebuilt transmission and put in a spec stage 2 clutch along with a fidanza lightened flywheel. Now whenever i start going in first gear, the car shakes and rumbles quite a bit. Anyone know why thats going on? Thanx in advance!

You're not being specific enough.

Is it rumbling while you engage the clutch? Or is it rumbling while you are accelerating in 1st gear?

It rumbles as I engage the clutch. Once i release it it shakes until i get to like 1500prm and then it becomes smooth again.

Thats the clutch chattering. It should go away with time.

Or it may not.

Was this a new clutch disc, pressure plate and was the flywheel also resurfaced? Because that's what needs to be done in order to reasonably prevent clutch chatter. Note that some lightened flywheels can't be resurfaced, in which case you need to buy new inserts.

I bought a brand new clutch with a pressure plate and a brand new lightened flywheel. You think it will go away over time? Or will it go away after my clutch is burned?

Do a proper break in and youll be fine. I jsut installed a brand new clutch, flywheel and PP and I have chatter. You need to wait at least 1000 miles before it starts getting better. Keep the revs low, under 3000, and no clutch dumps during break in>>>1000 miles

Well no mistakes there. The only other issue is to make sure the flywheel and pressure plate are cleaned thoroughly with solvent before assembling it.

Perhaps the chatter will go away - for me it did once, but another time not at all. Unfortunately, if it doesn't go away you'll have to change the clutch disc, pressure plate, and flywheel surfaces again.

Drive it easy, don't slip it more than you have to, and avoid chattering it.
