You know everyone keeps saying they don't make noise and that's really false info. I have them along with brembo blanks and they squeal pretty bad. But i do agree that the stopping power is ridiculous over stock. I'm not the only one that has these pads and everyone that i know says they squeal.

Maxmods talks about all the pads. Hawks do squel pretty badly on the maxima. If you read you would probably hear that more on here. They do have great stopping power but they are pretty loud. Cermaics are good. I still believe that real stopping power is in the calipers and rotors. Yeah pads are very imporant but the pads will still be pads. Idk, that's just how I see it.

I just got Bendix CT-3 Ceramic pads. They are quality pads and come with a one time free replacement when they wear down from any Bendix dealer. Had them on my 03 Altima 3.5SE and now have them on my 99 Maxima as well. No noise, minimal dust...

read this first!
http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaBrakePads

then decide what way you drive, and choose accordingly.

i use axxis ultimate's and they make so much noise, i dont have the shims, i heard they had shims already on them, didnt see them tho, so i skipped out on special ordering the shims from a dealer. i did get a hardware brake kit from autozone tho
the ultimates are not for everyone, they have to be broken in really good and even then they are a kind of racing brake, they have to be warmed up, so i cant just stop on a dime without warming them up, its like i have to pay attention all the time cause an accident could happen if i didnt warm them up properly before braking hard. unbleiveable amount of dust!

metal masters are great performance but they do dust. i recomend these for the street and people with agressive driving.

Don't go to tire rack. You're paying more money than you need to. Go to the maxmods site and go from there.

I got the hawk's and no noise here not even a squeak. I think its all how you install most brake noise comes from the pads moving not the actual pad touching the rotor. I have never had a pad squeal on me. As long as you put that sticky stuff on the back of the pads they shouldn't make any noise. Just my .02 cents.

^ i agree, i think that plays the most effect. And condtions, obviously pad will squeek when moisture is in the air, after the rain first couple of secs, i dont consider that as some might.

I only installed 1 shim on there, each side. I had a bottle of BG anti-squeek applied to the actual pad matieral. after my pad and rotor got used to each other no problems.

I disagree with that. I had pads and used the sticky non-squel stuff. I had to change the setup of the pads three times because they wouldnt stop squelling. I agree it has to do with installation but it also is about bleeding and the actual rotors.

Hawk HPS. Best pads i've ever used. I was skeptical about the difference i read they would make, i thought all brake pads were the same, but i was wrong. I did notice quite a bit of an improvement over my stock dying pads. I get a tiny bit of squeak when the car has sat for a day and i move it. It goes away almost instantly. I think the secret to it is how you bed/break in the pads. These brake pads do leave a fair amount of brake dust, nothing major or anything.

I would add shims to that list as well.

If it's any help, I use Axxis Ultimates on my street driven Z32. They don't squeal, they do dust, but I wash it weekly, so it doesn't bother me. I'd rather stop good when I need it.
