Removing screws from stock FPR

Has anyone had any luck with this? My screws appear to be galled, and my attempt to remove the screws while the fuel rail was off the car didn't help much at all, either. Anyone able to do this with seized screws? If so, how? Has anyone been able to do this with the fuel rail still in place and installed?

Have you tried an impact driver?

I took a dremel to the screws and made a flat grove in the head of the screw so I could get a Flat Head Screw driver on it. It took a LONGGG time but I finally got it

Anyone manage to do any of this while the fuel rail and FPR were still installed? If so, you are my hero, and please explain how, because removing the damned upper intake manifold is a *****...

judging from whats being said here, I would say it's easier to remove it, and then remove the FPR.

drill it out will work. Use a dremel and cut wheel to get the head of the bolt off, and drill to finish it off.

either re-tap it later, or use a bolt and nut.

I used a pair of needle nose visegrips to turn the galled screws.

If the visegrips don't work while in the car, then a proper set up with an impact driver (a screwdriver that works by striking it with a hammer) and that will do it. A little PB Blaster helps a lot too.

I have yet to see a truly galled fastener. Auto mfrs are careful to avoid situations that cause true galling. But I have seen them damn hard to get apart.

Impact driver is the best thing ever invented.

Sears has them. If you can get the impact driver on the screw it will take literally 2 seconds to loosen the screw.

Try to tap the screwdriver with a hammer a few times (not too hard) while on screw,
then try turning it.
It should break loose.
