Magnaflow too loud

Bought a new magnaflow SS muffler and had it put on for two weeks now. Its way too loud and drones at lower speed as well as cruising speeds. I'm sure some of this has to do with having a test pipe, but I think it would still be too loud regardless. I guess I'm going to offer anyone a trade for either a newer stock axle back or or something quieter. It looks badass, but just too loud for my daily driving. Let me know if anyone interested in FL.

is it a straight through type muffler? Do you have the stock B-Pipe or aftermarket.

Yes, the SS series are straight through type. I have a stock b-pipe.

I have a Magnaflow muffler.... when I first installed it, it sounded NASTY!!!
I then installed my OBX headers and the sound got way better!!! I like the sound right now, I would definately get some headers to deepen the sound ASAP!! or a Greddy exhaust.

Seriously though, what did you expect for the price?
If you wanted a nice sounding exhaust you should have gotten a Greddy or a Cattman.
Why are you running a test pipe? If the sound is that bad with it, why run it for only a gain of a 1HP???
There is no real need to run a test pipe if your not pushing much out of the exhaust.

So you bought headers to gain the sound? Those headers dont gain nothing over OEM if your running the stock Y pipe which I assume you are unless you got an OBX Y pipe to. Even with the Y pipe you do not gain anything more over the aftermarket Y pipe. My exhaust sounds nice with and without the straight pipe. Im running a Budget Y and Greddy SP1 exhaust. even when i had the Apeixi WS it never sounded raspy or dronning.

I am running with the OBX y-pipe...

I had already purchased the headers when I found out that it really didnt give any gains. The good part about it is that it did give my exhaust a way deeper sound... Before the headers, my exhaust sounded very high pitched and raspy!

If I could do it all over again, I wouldnt have purchased the OBX headers, and just kept the Stillen y-pipe... I guess its an expensive learning experience

Yeah, I had the same experience. Just stuck a silencer in the tip and much better.

Thanks, maybe I'll try a silencer in the tip then. It would probably help quite a bit if I switched back to a stock cat too, right? I dunno wtf I was thinking in the first place. Every other car I've had I ended up switching back to stock in the long-run because annoying sound always > than any or all actuall hp gains. Shoulda tried Greddy, oh well.

I have the magna 14829 5" x 8" w/ tip.
Where can I get a silencer to just plug in there w/o having to take anything apart??

The thing that is funny is the only thing you like is the look and it is going to look stupid with a silencer in it.

Measure the tip's opening then go check eBay.

You may try inserting a bigger resonator, it will reduce noise and you will probably not even notice any power difference. And you will still be able to keep the look you are after.

Stock car will not stop the drone sound. It will cure (more like reduce) rasp.

Oh yeah?.. I guess the plaid seats option and all that do it for him then. Before he had that car I remember him, so no big deal I know he knows his stuff.

Forget it. I'm not putting another dollar into this car. I've already wasted a good $1.5K playing around and trying different things. Leaving as is since I just worked out a guarunteed sale to another max enthusiast. Just sucks, I had the nicest max with no mileage and in beautiful shape and owe basically nothing on it. Automatic and is not at all fun to drive no matter what I try to do and compensate. Now the question is, should I get an Altima 3.5 SE manual, a 5.5gen Max SE 6spd, or drop the big bucks on the 350z maual. Leaning towards the 5.5gen Max, as it has the look I want plus the options and responsiveness.

The GTI's don't come with that really lame electronic blow-off valve do they? Around here there's some dubs with those and man I just wanna run up and beat them.
